Hey there, friends. Let’s talk about something heartfelt. Comedian Drew Carey, the guy we all know from The Price Is Right, is opening up in a big way about his past relationship with Amie Harwick. It’s a deeply personal moment as Carey reflects on their bond following her tragic passing. During a recent episode of his Sirius XM show Friday Night Freak-Out, the 61-year-old radio host shared his emotions with listeners in a heartfelt and raw conversation.
“Back in September 2018, I was in the most incredible relationship of my life. This amazing woman named Amie Harwick came into my world, and she completely changed everything for the better. Amie was not just a brilliant sex therapist and mental health advocate but also this incredibly warm and compassionate soul,” Carey shared with his audience. “She held two advanced degrees, and she was just stunning—inside and out. Amie was the kind of person who genuinely cared about making people’s lives better. She was fun, loving, and truly a joy to be around. I fell head over heels for her, and honestly, I’ve never felt that kind of connection before.”
A Beautiful Bond Remembered

“I’m completely heartbroken over Amie’s passing. She was such a beautiful soul, and no one deserved what happened to her. Even though our relationship ended, our love for each other never did. We broke off the engagement, but that didn’t mean we stopped loving one another. I was still so deeply in love with her, and she felt the same way about me,” Carey explained with emotion in his voice. “Amie was just one of those people you never forget, and I’ll always treasure the time we had together.”

Love Through Music
Carey went on to describe the special way he and Amie connected through music. “You know, music was such a huge part of our relationship. We’d spend hours singing to each other, sharing our favorite songs, and creating these magical moments together. Whether it was dancing in the kitchen or slow dancing in the bathroom—yes, the bathroom—we found joy in every moment,” he recalled fondly. “We’d hold hands in the car and listen to our favorite tunes, creating a soundtrack for our lives together. Songs like the 4 Seasons’ ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,’ the Rascals’ ‘A Girl Like You,’ and Three Dog Night’s ‘Old Fashioned Love Song’ were some of our favorites. They truly captured the essence of our love.”
View this post on InstagramSeeing the liberty bell today was the perfect start to the @theaasect conference that started with a lecture on Social and Sexual Liberation by @dalychia @afrosexology_. While the liberty bell is simply a bell that was rung at notable political times many years ago, it has become a symbol of liberation and freedom. Oppressed groups over time have referenced the liberty bell. The women’s suffragette movement traveled with a replica of the liberty bell to support their ideals. Just as @dalychia asked out group tonight, I’m going to ask you: what makes you feel liberated? Dancing? Setting boundaries with family? Taking a deep breath? #aasect #aasectconference #philly #philadelphia #liberty #libertybell #freedom
“These songs weren’t just music to us; they were memories. I wanted to share them with you so you could feel the depth of our connection through these tunes,” Carey added, his voice filled with emotion.
A Tragic Loss
On February 15, tragedy struck when Amie Harwick, at the young age of 38, passed away after falling off a balcony at her Hollywood Hills home following an alleged altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse. Pursehouse was arrested and now faces charges of murder and first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance of lying in wait. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

“Right now, I’m just not in a place where I can work or entertain anyone. Losing Amie has hit me hard, and I need time to process everything,” Carey said, explaining why The Price Is Right will be taking a short break. “It’s just not the right time for me to step back into my usual routine.”
We send all our love and strength to Drew Carey during this incredibly difficult time.
