Life has thrown a curveball at everyone this year, and Candace Cameron Bure is no exception. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Candace and her husband, Valeri Bure, had to put their plans for their 24th wedding anniversary in June on hold. “We were planning a trip to Europe, but I doubt that’s going to happen,” the actress exclusively tells Closer Weekly. “So I don’t know what we’ll be doing! Who knows if we’ll still be in quarantine, but regardless, I think our European trip is off the table for now.”

At 44, Candace, who recently partnered with The Salvation Army to match donations up to $10,000 during the pandemic, is embracing the situation and leaning into simplicity. She plans to celebrate her special day with something small at home with her husband. “We already know each other’s likes and dislikes,” she says. “The secret to our marriage is having lots of grace for one another and keeping communication open. It’s all about understanding and supporting each other through thick and thin.”

Staying Connected Through Laughter and Togetherness

For Candace, laughter is the key to enduring life’s challenges. “The more you can laugh with each other, the better life will be,” she shares. Back in November 2019, Candace told Closer that spending quality time together has been a game-changer for her marriage. “That’s the secret—you gotta see each other,” she explained. “The kids are older now, so things are different. But our schedules are busy—we both travel a lot—so we’re figuring it out. Now that we’re empty-nesters, it’s like starting a whole new chapter, and it’s really great.”

Simple Pleasures at Home

When they’re home together, Candace and Valeri enjoy indulging in some of their favorite activities. “Our favorite thing is just to eat,” she laughs. “It sounds so simple, but we love cooking at home. And after a meal, we usually chill out and watch a movie, cuddle up on the couch, or sit outside—we live in L.A., after all!”

As proud parents to their three children—Natasha, 21, Lev, 20, and Maksim, 18—Candace and Valeri cherish every moment together. “There’s not a single day that goes by that I regret being married to Valeri,” Candace says. “Our simple pleasures in life are just to sit out on the back porch and play tug-of-war with our dog. The older you get, the more you appreciate those little things. It’s all about chilling and relaxing.”

The Secret to a Long-Lasting Marriage

It’s no surprise that Candace and Valeri have been married for so long. Their ability to adapt, stay connected, and enjoy the little things has kept their bond strong. Whether it’s hiking in Malibu, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or simply enjoying each other’s company, their relationship continues to thrive. “The older you get, the more you realize how important it is to slow down and enjoy life,” Candace adds. “It’s all about the chill and relaxing. That’s what keeps us going.”
