When Abby Huntsman bid farewell to her cohosts on 'The View,' Sunny Hostin found herself grappling with a palpable void at the iconic roundtable. As they discussed potential replacements for the popular CBS talk show, the seasoned lawyer exclusively revealed to Closer Weekly that Abby, the former Fox and Friends star, is truly "irreplaceable."
"I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again," Sunny, 51, said with heartfelt emotion. "She’s absolutely lovely, and I truly miss her presence." Abby's departure left an indelible mark on the show and Sunny, who couldn't help but express her admiration for the young TV personality.

What Sunny Hostin Seeks in Abby Huntsman's Replacement
After showering Abby with praise, Sunny went on to outline the qualities she hopes the next cohost will bring to the table. "We need someone who’s not just passionate but also someone who can hold their ground," she explained. "Ideally, this person should have a unique perspective that adds something fresh and exciting to the show," Sunny added with enthusiasm. "I’m genuinely curious to see who steps into this role and what they’ll bring to the table."
Why Abby Huntsman Chose to Leave 'The View'
As Closer previously reported, Abby revealed her decision to leave the political talk show in January to support her father, Jon Huntsman Jr., in his gubernatorial campaign. Her departure came just a year and a half after joining the esteemed lineup, which included Sunny, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Meghan McCain. Abby's note to the show’s staff, obtained by Closer, spoke volumes about her gratitude and dedication. "ABC has been my family for a long time, and I’m deeply thankful for having been part of such an iconic show like The View," Abby wrote. "After careful deliberation during the holidays, I’ve decided to leave the show so I can fully commit to supporting my dad and his campaign for Governor of Utah."
Abby Huntsman’s Emotional Farewell
During her final episode on January 17, Abby couldn’t help but get emotional as she reflected on her journey at the roundtable. "When I was just 19, my first job was booking cars overnight for Good Morning America, and I never imagined I’d be sitting here at this table," she reminisced with tears in her eyes. "I just want to thank all of you for this incredible experience."
Her cohosts, including Sunny and Meghan McCain, 35, celebrated Abby for her invaluable contributions to The View. "It’s been such a pleasure getting to know you," Sunny said warmly. "I genuinely value our friendship." Meghan, too, was visibly moved as she reflected on their shared moments on the show.

"You’re such a bright light in everyone’s life," Meghan marveled, her voice trembling with emotion. "You always manage to see the good in everything. You’ve been a friend for so long, and while I’m heartbroken that you’re leaving, I completely understand how important it is to support your dad. Those are special moments, and I know firsthand how meaningful they can be. I totally get it."
