Where Was Ryan Seacrest During Live With Kelly and Ryan’s Memorial Day Episode?
Viewers of Live With Kelly and Ryan were left wondering why Ryan Seacrest wasn’t hosting the Memorial Day episode. It wasn’t the first time this month that Ryan missed an appearance on the show. Instead, Kelly Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, stepped in to keep things lively from the Caribbean. Fans are understandably concerned, but there’s a good reason behind Ryan’s absence.
On May 18, Ryan had already taken a day off because he was absolutely drained from working late on the American Idol finale. His rep explained the situation to People, saying, “Like so many people right now, Ryan is figuring out how to balance his life and work in this new normal. Adding the pressure of producing live shows from home makes it even tougher.”

Why Did Ryan Need a Break?
It’s not easy juggling multiple high-profile jobs, and Ryan has been doing just that for weeks now. Between hosting Live With Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he’s been working non-stop. His rep elaborated, “Ryan’s been handling three or four on-air gigs simultaneously, and he just needed to take a breather. So, he decided to take a well-deserved day off.”
Even though Ryan took some time to recharge, he seemed perfectly fine when he returned to work on May 19. In fact, he shared a photo of himself hiking just a few days before he was set to return to Live. In the caption, he wrote, “A breath of fresh air … even from behind a mask. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!” Fans are hoping to see him back on the show soon because, let’s face it, Live just isn’t the same without him.
Ryan’s Personal Life: Keeping Things Low-Key
In a December 2018 interview with People, Ryan opened up about his approach to balancing his professional and personal life. While his work schedule is packed, he prefers to keep things simple when it comes to his relationships, especially with his girlfriend, Shayna Taylor.
“Family is incredibly important to me, and Shayna feels the same way. But I’ve always been someone who schedules everything in life—deadlines, commitments, you name it. With Shayna, I don’t want to do that. We both try to stay in the moment, enjoy our connection, and let it grow naturally,” Ryan shared.

What About Ryan and Shayna’s Relationship?
Ryan and Shayna have been an item since 2013, and their bond is as strong as ever. When Ryan landed the gig on Live With Kelly and Ryan in May 2017, Shayna didn’t hesitate to move to New York to be with him. Living together, they’ve found a great rhythm. “It’s been so easy. We’re really in sync,” Ryan gushed.
