On Monday, May 4, the iconic singing siblings Donny Osmond and Marie Osmond turned to Instagram to celebrate the life and legacy of their beloved mother, Olive Osmond. It was a special day as it marked what would have been her 95th birthday. The Osmond siblings, known for their vibrant careers and close-knit family ties, took a moment to honor the woman who shaped their lives in countless ways.
Marie Osmond, now 60, shared a classic black-and-white photo of herself alongside her mother, captioning it with a heartfelt "#HappyBirthday to my sweet mother." Her words carried a deep sense of love and gratitude for the woman who had been such an integral part of her life. Donny Osmond, 62, echoed his sister's sentiments by sharing a nostalgic throwback picture of his own. In his caption, he described Olive as "my greatest cheerleader, wise confidant, and [a] soft place to land." He went on to express how much he misses her and appreciates her lasting influence every single day.

Remembering Olive Osmond
Olive Osmond passed away in May 2004 after suffering a stroke at the age of 79. Just a few years later, in November 2007, her husband George Osmond also passed away due to natural causes at the age of 90. He was the last living parent of Donny and Marie. Despite their passing, the Osmond siblings and their seven other siblings continue to cherish the memories and lessons they learned from their parents.

Marie Reflects on Her Mother's Wisdom
Marie Osmond, known for her hit song "Make the World Go Away," fondly recalled a piece of advice her mother once gave her during a pivotal moment in her career. Back in September 2019, as she was preparing to join the cast of "The Talk," she thought deeply about what her mother might say. "I thought a lot about my mom this week and what advice she might give me as I pulled my chair up to the table at @thetalkcbs," Marie shared on Instagram.
She went on to express her immense gratitude for her mother's teachings, saying, "The instrument has not yet been invented that can measure the gratitude I feel for my mother and the things she taught me through my life. The memories I have of her wisdom pop up often." Olive's advice was clear: patience, perseverance, and hard work were the keys to success. Marie fondly remembered her mother repeating this mantra over and over again.
Marie's Career Leap and Olive's Support
Marie explained that changing jobs can be risky, but she found comfort in hearing her mother's voice in her head, saying, "don't worry Marie, the only opportunity missed is a chance not taken." This encouragement gave her the confidence to embrace the new opportunity and trust that her mother would be proud of her decision. "I feel confident with this wonderful opportunity I have made and I know she would completely support me, just as I have felt your support!"
It's clear that Olive's legacy lives on through her children, who continue to draw inspiration from her wisdom and unconditional love. If only she could see how far her children have come, she would undoubtedly be bursting with pride.
