Carrie Underwood, the mom of two and beloved country music icon, has bravely opened up about her deeply personal struggle with three miscarriages since 2017. In an emotional episode of her new web series with husband Mike Fisher, Mike and Carrie: God & Country, the singer talks candidly about the pain and resilience that came with these losses. It’s a story of faith, family, and finding hope in the darkest moments.
Confronting the Pain with Honesty and Faith
During the episode titled “The Wrestle,” Carrie shares how she turned to God in her darkest hour, seeking clarity and comfort. “I had an honest conversation with God, and I told him exactly how I felt,” the 37-year-old revealed, her voice trembling with emotion. She admits to feeling anger, guilt, and frustration, emotions that many can relate to when facing such profound loss. “I was a little angry, and of course, you feel guilty for being mad at your creator,” she confessed. “But I told him we needed something. We needed to have a baby or not, ever, because I couldn’t keep going down that road anymore.”

Building a Family Amidst Challenges
Carrie and Mike, now 39, had always dreamed of expanding their family after the joyful arrival of their son Isaiah in 2015. But life had other plans. “It sounds wrong when you say it, but it’s one of those ‘bad things that happen to other people,’” Carrie said, her voice filled with raw emotion. “It’s not something you ever imagine yourself having to deal with.” The couple faced their first miscarriage in early 2017, a devastating blow that left them questioning their future.
Despite their heartbreak, Carrie and Mike tried again, only to suffer another loss. Mike, a former hockey pro, recalled the overwhelming frustration he felt. “What’s the future look like? We don’t know,” he admitted. “Are we going to adopt? Are we going to… [just] going through things in your mind.”
Hope Amidst the Struggles
It wasn’t until Mike sat down and had a deeply personal conversation with God that he found the clarity they both needed. “I was just wrestling and probably the most honest I’d been with God,” he explained. “And I heard, not audibly, but I sensed that God told me that we were going to have a son, and his name’s Jacob.” But even after this revelation, the couple faced yet another loss. “Not much longer, we were pregnant, and we lose another baby,” Mike added, his voice heavy with emotion.
Thankfully, Carrie and Mike didn’t give up. They got pregnant for a fourth time in the spring of 2018. Though Carrie initially feared the worst, her pregnancy was viable, and the couple welcomed their second child, Jacob, in January 2019. “This is a great time for Carrie and Mike, and they’re going to cherish every single moment,” an insider exclusively shared with Closer Weekly.
