Love Revisited: Patrick Duffy's Unexpected Second Chance
Patrick Duffy never thought he'd fall in love again after the passing of his beloved wife, Carlyn Rosser, in 2017. So, when he found himself developing feelings for Linda Purl, the Dallas alum was as surprised as anyone could be. He described their new relationship as a "do-again," a fresh start that felt just as special as the first time around.
In a candid conversation with Page Six on Monday, November 16, the 71-year-old actor explained, “We’re not covering any ground that hasn’t been well-trodden in both our lives for years and years.” He went on to share how their connection felt like a natural extension of their past experiences, bringing a sense of comfort and understanding that only comes with age and wisdom.

A New Chapter in Love
Patrick expressed his gratitude for the second chance at love, sharing, “For me, it’s not a do-over, it’s a do-again … because the first one was perfect and this one is also perfect.” He emphasized that while their relationship might not be the same as the first time around, it carries a depth and understanding that comes with maturity. "We get a do-again, but we’re not teenagers anymore," he said. "So, we enter this relationship with a clear understanding of what’s expected, what to give, and how to respect each other’s history and individualism."

Despite some initial hesitation about dating again, Patrick admitted he’s thrilled with how things turned out. “It’s worked out. I can’t tell you how happy I am,” he gushed. His joy is palpable as he talks about the newfound happiness he’s experiencing with Linda.
The Beginning of Something Special
The Man from Atlantis star first revealed details about his relationship with the Matlock actress during an interview with People in early November. Patrick shared that their journey began when they were added to a group text chain with mutual friends. The two had been casual acquaintances in the past, but this new connection sparked something special.
Patrick and Linda spent weeks getting to know each other better. As Patrick’s feelings for Linda grew stronger, he decided to take a bold step. “I loaded up my car and drove 20 hours from my home to Linda’s,” he recounted. “I ended up on her doorstep just to see if it was real.”

“We haven’t been apart since,” Patrick marveled. “I never thought for a minute this would happen again. I never thought I’d feel this way again.”
Carlyn's Legacy and Looking Ahead
Before embarking on this new chapter, Patrick had been married to Carlyn Rosser for over four decades, from 1974 until her passing in 2017. Even though he’s found happiness again with Linda, Patrick continues to honor his first love. “He’s grateful for the years they had together but wishes they had more,” a close friend told Closer Weekly in 2019. “Patrick doesn’t hide his feelings about it.”
The Mistletoe Secret actor, who shares sons Padraic Duffy, 46, and Conor Duffy, 40, with Carlyn, will always cherish the memories of his first marriage. However, that doesn’t mean he’s closed off to the idea of remarrying. “Patrick would love to grow old with someone who shares the same interests,” a source revealed. “He’s always hopeful, positive, and looking forward to what’s next.”
