The Tough Times That Led to a Fresh Start
James went on to share more about the struggles they faced. Last Christmas, Kimberly thought she had a tumor, but thankfully, the doctors were wrong. James also mentioned being unexpectedly kicked off a reality dancing show in front of millions of viewers, which had to be tough. And if that wasn't enough, they lost his mom. To top it all off, there was the global pandemic. It's a lot for anyone to handle, let alone a family with five kids. These setbacks made them realize it was time to make some drastic changes to their lives, their dreams, and their priorities. In a heartfelt Instagram post, James shared photos of their kids—Olivia, 9, Joshua, 8, Annabel, 6, Emilia, 4, and Gwendolyn, 2—hanging out in their soon-to-be-empty home. "Sometimes a fuller life begins with an empty house," he wrote. "Leaving Los Angeles incredibly grateful for all the friends and memories we’ve made here. Onto the next big adventure!" During an episode of "The Makedown" podcast in August, Kimberly revealed that they want their kids to have a deeper connection with nature. "L.A. has been a magical place for many years," she said. "So much life has been lived here. I’m going to go through a process to leave, I mean, I birthed three kids in the home I’m living in. But you know, I gotta get out of the concrete jungle for a little bit." It sounds like they're embracing this new chapter with open arms, and who can blame them?
