Family is the heart and soul of everything for James Brolin, and he couldn’t be more thrilled to spend precious moments with his 1-year-old granddaughter, Westlyn. In an exclusive sit-down with Closer Weekly, the iconic actor opens up about the joys of being a grandpa and how his life has been transformed by this little bundle of joy.
"Westlyn is absolutely the cutest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on," James shares with Closer Weekly, his voice brimming with pride. "I’ve got three grandkids—Trevor, Eden, and now Westlyn—and let me tell you, if I thought she wasn’t perfect, I wouldn’t say it. But she’s nothing short of perfection. Everyone who meets her just melts. It’s like magic!"

Cherishing Family Time During Uncertain Times
When Westlyn visits, the little one loves to "swim" and "dine" with James and his wife, the legendary Barbra Streisand. These visits happen about once a week, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, James and Barbra take extra precautions. Masks are a must whenever their grandchildren come over.
"It’s been a bit tricky, but so rewarding that they still come by," James explains. "Barbra and I haven’t left our house in three to four months. Josh has had some meetings, but other than that, we’ve been keeping it safe. You know, family is everything, and we’re lucky to still have these moments together."
James, who recently signed on to narrate the Netflix/DC Comics series Sweet Tooth, produced by Robert Downey Jr., adds, "Life is different now, but it’s also beautiful in its own way. We’re making the most of it."
Anticipation Grows as Josh and Kathryn Expect Baby No. 2
With Josh Brolin and his wife Kathryn Boyd expecting their second child, James and Barbra are gearing up for an even busier—and more joyful—life. "I’m absolutely thrilled," James says, his excitement palpable. "When Josh and Kathryn first told us, it was this incredible secret we were sworn not to share. They wanted to be sure everything was okay with the pregnancy, and then when they found out it was another girl, we were over the moon!"

Barbra’s Bond with Her Grandchildren
Though Barbra isn’t blood-related to any of her grandchildren, her connection with them is undeniable. "The moment they walk in the door—or even before that, when they call or send a video—Barbra turns into a puddle of mush," James says with a chuckle. "She adores them, and they adore her. It’s this beautiful, unbreakable bond. They send us videos almost every day, so we’re constantly in touch and involved in their lives."
James continues, "It’s this incredible thing, you know? To watch your kids grow into parents themselves and then to see your grandkids thriving—it’s everything I could ever want."
