She revealed that Hugh, who’s now 51, knew he had feelings for her within just two weeks of meeting. But for Deborra-Lee, it happened a little differently. She recalled a dinner party from over two decades ago, where everything clicked. “He said he knew two weeks,” she gushed, reminiscing about the early days of their relationship. “And I knew it wasn’t far behind.”

The Kitchen Confession

Deborra-Lee remembers the exact moment things changed between them. It happened in the kitchen, of all places. “I remember saying to him as he was cooking,” she said with a smile. “I sat in the kitchen and I said, ‘You haven’t been coming to my trailer.’ We used to hang out all the time, you know? And he goes, ‘Yeah, yeah, I know, I haven’t.’ Then he said something that stopped me in my tracks: ‘I got a crush on you.’ And when he said that, I went, ‘I got a crush on you too.’”

From that moment on, their love story took off like a rocket. Less than a year later, they tied the knot in 1996, sealing their commitment to each other. Over the years, they’ve built a life filled with love, family, and adventure. “I don’t think we’ve ever spent a day apart since,” Deborra-Lee said during her appearance on the Australian TV show. “We just had this amazing connection. I feel so blessed to have experienced it. I truly believe I’ve met my soulmate.”

Family First

Four years after their wedding, in 2000, they welcomed their eldest son, Oscar, into their lives. Five years later, in 2005, their daughter Ava joined the family. For both Deborra-Lee and Hugh, family has always been at the center of their world. Even with their demanding careers in Hollywood, they’ve managed to keep their priorities straight. “Our marriage gets better and better,” Deborra-Lee said proudly. “It’s all about balance and communication.”
