When you think of Sally Field, you might picture her iconic roles in Flying Nun or Steel Magnolias, but there’s so much more to this incredible woman than her acting career. They’re her pride and joy.” It’s clear that Sally cherishes every moment she spends with Isabel, Sophie, Ogden, Noah, and Colin, her five beloved grandkids. And why wouldn’t she? A Legacy of Love: Sally’s First Grandchildren
Sally’s journey into grandmotherhood began in 1998 when her eldest son, Peter, welcomed his first child, Isabel, with his then-wife, Amy Scattergood. Amy, a talented author known for her work on Hot Plastic, was also a former editor at the Los Angeles Times. Together, they added another daughter, Sophie, to their family in 2001. Life has its ups and downs, though, and Peter and Amy eventually parted ways in 2005. But love found Peter again, and he remarried Jennifer DeFrancisco in 2008. This union brought Sally her third grandchild, Ogden, in 2008. Unfortunately, Peter and Jennifer’s marriage ended in 2017 after nine years, but the bonds of family remain strong.

It’s not just Peter who’s contributing to Sally’s grandparent portfolio. Her middle son, Eli, and his wife, Sasha Craig, have also blessed her with two more grandchildren. Eli, who’s made a name for himself as the director of Little Evil, and Sasha, an actress best known for her role in Dark Wolf, welcomed Noah in 2006 and Colin in 2014. These additions have only deepened Sally’s connection to her family and expanded her circle of love. Being a grandma to five kids keeps her on her toes, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Still a Mom at Heart
Even with all her grandparenting duties, Sally hasn’t forgotten her role as a mom. Her sons—Peter, Eli, and youngest child Sam—are still her top priority. In fact, she’s incredibly proud of them and loves to share just how much they mean to her. “The three things I’m most proud of in my life are my sons,” Sally revealed exclusively to Closer Weekly in February 2020. “They’re kind, loving, and productive people, each with their own unique talents and accomplishments.”
Sally isn’t shy about celebrating her boys’ achievements, whether it’s their professional successes in Hollywood or their roles as amazing fathers. When her youngest, Sam, came out as gay, Sally stood firmly by him, sharing her unwavering support. “It’s crucial for a parent to speak openly about raising a magnificent, proud, intelligent, funny, lovable, sexy gay son,” she said during an interview with OWN in 2012. “There are so many parents out there who struggle to accept their children for who they truly are, and that’s something we need to change.”
It’s clear that Sally is not only a loving grandma and mom but also a positive force in her family’s lives. She’s teaching her grandchildren the importance of acceptance, kindness, and love, which will undoubtedly shape them into incredible individuals.
