From the moment she entered the spotlight, Marie Osmond has been a household name. Yet, despite her fame, she’s always remained grounded and relatable. The multi-talented entertainer, whose career spans nearly six decades, attributes much of her humility to her late mother, Olive. Marie recalls a memorable moment from her teenage years when she was working tirelessly on Donny & Marie. “I was 17, coming home after an exhausting 18-hour day, and my mom said, ‘Hey, you still haven’t done your chores.’ I tried to argue, saying I needed to look good for tomorrow’s taping, but she wasn’t having it. She told me, ‘You’re going to clean the toilets and do your chores. This is reality, so get to work.’ That lesson stuck with me,” she shares exclusively with Closer Weekly.
Marie's Journey of Growth
At 61, Marie hasn’t slowed down. She continues to evolve both personally and professionally. “Getting older can make change difficult, but I believe in learning something new about myself every single day. It’s crucial to strive to be a better version of yourself,” she explains. Her dedication to self-improvement is evident in every aspect of her life, whether it’s as a performer, wife, mother, or grandmother.
A Year of Reflection
When asked about the past year, Marie reflects deeply. “It was an eye-opening experience for all of us. Being forced to stay home and disconnect from distractions allowed us to reconnect with what truly matters. Life’s challenges can often turn into blessings if we allow them to shape us positively,” she says. For Marie, this period was unexpectedly enjoyable. After reuniting with her first husband, Steve, in 2011, they spent quality time together during the pandemic. “It was the first time I stayed home for an extended period. We enjoyed each other’s company and spent time with our children, which was one of my goals for 2020. It was refreshing to live life on my terms instead of performing five shows a week in Las Vegas,” she adds.

Marriage, Then and Now
Marie and Steve’s second marriage has brought newfound appreciation and understanding. “When you’re younger, little things tend to bother you more. As we’ve grown older, we’ve realized what truly matters. Steve is my best friend, and we have so much fun together, even when we’re just relaxing,” she explains. Their bond has deepened over the years, proving that love and friendship can flourish with maturity.
The Joys of Grandmotherhood
Marie’s role as a grandmother brings immense joy. “I have seven beautiful grandchildren, and another one is on the way! Despite the pandemic, we’ve managed to see them safely. We quarantine for ten days beforehand to ensure everyone’s health. Then, we visit in our motor home. I love sitting between their beds, telling stories and making memories. Happiness doesn’t come from grand gestures; it comes from spending meaningful time together,” she shares. A picture of Marie with her grandchildren showcases the warmth and love she shares with her family.
Spreading Positivity
Family isn’t the only source of Marie’s happiness. Helping others and spreading positivity also bring her immense fulfillment. “I manage my own social media and try to post weekly messages that inspire faith and hope. Everyone deserves to know they can choose happiness, no matter the circumstances,” she emphasizes. Teaching her children and grandchildren this lesson is important to her, though she acknowledges the importance of letting them navigate life’s challenges independently. “Sometimes, you just have to let them figure things out on their own while offering unconditional love and support,” she advises.
Nutrisystem: A Lifelong Partnership
Marie’s partnership with Nutrisystem spans 14 years, and she credits the program for transforming her life. “Before Nutrisystem, I couldn’t even climb a flight of stairs without feeling winded. Performing five shows a week in Vegas for 11 years would’ve been impossible with the extra weight. This program gave me the tools to maintain my weight loss, and I’m living proof that it works,” she declares proudly.
Exciting Projects Ahead
Beyond her role as a Nutrisystem ambassador, Marie is keeping busy with exciting projects. “I recently completed a Lifetime movie, and I’m working on another one this summer. Acting isn’t my strongest suit, but I believe in trying new things. I’m also releasing a new symphonic album, which is the most challenging project I’ve ever undertaken. It combines five decades of learning various music genres. I’m incredibly proud of it and plan to tour with symphonic dates,” she reveals.
Surprises and Reflections
Marie admits there’s still much about her life that fans might not know. “We all face struggles, and those experiences shape who we are. It’s not the good times that define us; it’s how we handle the tough ones,” she reflects. Her boldness and bravery stem from her mother’s teachings. “My mom taught me to have faith, even when the future seems uncertain. Faith is essential to navigating life,” she says.

Looking Toward the Future
As for retirement, Marie isn’t ruling it out entirely. “I’ve been working since I was three, so maybe someday I’ll transition into character roles, like Betty White. Those quirky, fun parts could be in my future if people still want to see me. Above all, I love bringing joy to others,” she concludes.
