Kathie Lee shares that the big news came during a visit with her son Cody's former nanny, Christine Gardner, who’s been a cherished family friend for years. She recounts the moment with pure delight: “Cody and his wife Erika surprised both Christine and me with the most thoughtful reveal. They handed each of us something wrapped and asked us to open them at the same time.”

Inside the beautifully crafted two-sided frame Kathie Lee received was a heartfelt message that read, “Can’t wait to meet you, Grandma,” along with a precious ultrasound photo of Cody and Erika holding their little one-to-be. Kathie Lee admits it took a moment for the reality to sink in, but when it did? “I freaked! It was such an overwhelming, beautiful moment.” Erika is expecting their first child in June, and the anticipation is palpable.

Perfect Timing for a New Chapter

Timing truly is everything. Just a few months ago, Kathie Lee, now 68, decided to pass the torch by handing over her longtime family home in Greenwich, Connecticut, to Cody and his wife Erika. This estate was where Kathie Lee and her late husband, Frank Gifford, raised their children, Cody, 31, and Cassidy, 28. She made the move to Nashville in 2019, partly because she missed the vibrant energy of family life. “There was so much laughter, music, and even the sound of dogs barking,” she reminisces. Now, she’s thrilled to think that her old home will soon be filled with the sweet sound of a baby’s laughter.

Confidence in the Next Generation

Kathie Lee is confident that both Cody and Cassidy are destined to be wonderful parents. Over the years, she’s watched them interact with children and babies, and she sees the natural parenting instincts in them. “They’ve chosen amazing partners who will also be fantastic parents,” she adds proudly.
