Let me tell you something interesting about Kelly Ripa. This powerhouse of television admitted that her cherished alone time away from her husband, Mark Consuelos, plays a pivotal role in their relationship. She shared this insight with Rob Lowe on his SiriusXM show, Literally! With Rob Lowe.
Spending Quality Time Apart
During an episode aired on Thursday, April 11, Kelly Ripa, the beloved cohost of Live With Kelly and Mark, opened up about her unique approach to maintaining a healthy relationship with her husband. “Well, we have mostly time apart from each other,” Kelly told Rob Lowe. She went on to explain, “There’s two things. We started out our careers together. Mark and I both worked on the same soap opera, so we used to spend 18 hours a day together every day. That was a lot, right?”
A New Dynamic in Their Relationship
Mark Consuelos, who turned 53 this year, officially joined the Live team alongside Kelly, also 53, in April 2023, following Ryan Seacrest's departure. This shift has altered their daily routines. “We have time in the morning where he gets to see me look nice and then we go about our days,” Kelly elaborated. “He’s involved in a different facet of the entertainment industry. I head to my podcast. We lead totally separate lives off-camera and then meet up again at night, and it’s...” she paused for effect before Rob Lowe chimed in with, “That’s perfect.”

“Exactly! It’s perfect. It really is,” Kelly confirmed with a smile. “We’ve achieved the right work-life balance, and I truly believe that any long-term marriage needs some form of work-life balance to thrive.”
Achieving Balance and Success
Kelly, who hosts her own podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera, has recently been honored with a prestigious title. The former All My Children star was named a Disney Legend for 2024. This incredible achievement will be celebrated at a ceremony in August 2024, where she’ll be joined by fellow honorees like Angela Bassett, Harrison Ford, Miley Cyrus, James Cameron, John Williams, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
“I’m so proud of you. You’re going to be a Disney Legend. You and Mickey,” Mark told Kelly during a heartfelt moment on a March 20 episode of Live. Kelly, touched by the sentiment, replied, “You know what that means? That means you get free entry into Disneyland… for the day.” She laughed before adding, “No, no. But it’s so kind and overwhelming… this show is the reason why, really. I feel like we’re all sort of being inducted together.”

A Moment of Surprise and Joy
Kelly, who shares her life with Mark and their children Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, admitted she was genuinely surprised to find herself among such legendary company. “It’s just… it just blows me away. When I looked at the lineup, I turned to Mark and said, ‘One of these things does not belong,’” she confessed during the candid segment. Mark, ever the supportive partner, expressed his admiration, saying, “I think you absolutely do belong. And I’m really, really proud of you.”
