Let me tell you a story about Burt Ward, a guy who shot to fame in 1966 playing Robin in the iconic TV series Batman. This wasn’t just any role—it was the role that defined a generation and turned him into a household name. After three seasons of dazzling audiences with his charm and wit, Burt went on to rack up over 40 acting credits before shifting gears and starting his own visual effects company in 2001. But that’s not all. Between being a TV legend and dedicating his life to animal activism, Burt also became a dad to two incredible kids: Lisa Ann Ward and Melody Lane Ward.
Growing up, Burt wasn’t just about the spotlight. He performed in Rhapsody on Ice, an ice-skating show owned by his dad. At the same time, he was studying acting at UCLA and helping his father sell real estate. Life was pretty balanced until the call came for the role that would change everything. Once he donned the Robin suit alongside Adam West as Batman, Burt became a bonafide star. He recalled his chemistry with Adam in a 2022 interview with Closer: “Adam and I clicked instantly. We laughed so hard during our first meeting that they had to tell us to quiet down. He was the funniest person I’ve ever met.”
As fate would have it, the same year Burt made his debut as Robin, he became a dad for the first time. He and his first wife, Bonney Lindsey, welcomed their daughter, Lisa, in 1966. However, the marriage was short-lived, and they divorced in 1967. Fast forward to 1990, Burt married Tracy Posner, and their daughter, Melody, was born in 1991. Together, they’ve built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared passion for animals.

Tracy and Burt aren’t just spouses; they’re partners in every sense of the word. Together, they run the non-profit Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions, a haven for dogs in need of forever homes. They’ve also launched their own pet food company, proving that their bond extends beyond marriage. “We’re together 24/7, but we love each other deeply,” Burt shared. “We don’t always see eye-to-eye, but we think alike most of the time. I’ll start a sentence, and she’ll finish it. We support and believe in each other completely.”
After building a legendary career as part of television’s most iconic duo, Burt is content with his life. He’s become a grandfather and a pop culture icon, over five decades since he first stepped into the spotlight. “I’m incredibly happy. I have an amazing family and the most wonderful people to work with,” he told CNN in 2002. “I’m like a kid in a candy store.”

Lisa Ann Ward: The Eldest Daughter with a Heart of Gold
Burt’s eldest daughter, Lisa, shares her father’s passion for helping animals. Growing up, she watched her dad on TV and was in awe of his acting prowess and dedication to the role of Robin. “My dad would’ve been a superhero to me even if he didn’t play one on TV,” Lisa said in a 2014 interview with 13th Dimension. “But knowing that he actually was one made me so proud and gave me a sense of protection. Plus, meeting all his fans, even today, is incredible. They’re so kind, loving, and loyal. It’s amazing to know that others appreciate and love my dad almost as much as I do!”
Lisa went on to share that she was “starstruck” around Adam West. She met his children a few times and has continued to collect memorabilia from the Batman series. “I’m so grateful that my young adult children, aged 20 and 22, are getting to experience this. They finally get it—Grandpa is actually cool!” she added.
Melody Lane Ward: The Younger Daughter with a Big Heart
Burt’s youngest daughter, Melody, grew up working alongside her parents in their dog rescue operation. When the family moved from Los Angeles to Riverside County to focus on helping dogs in need, Melody was just a toddler. Despite staying out of the spotlight for most of her life, she’s accompanied her dad to several events and appearances. In January 2020, Melody joined her parents as Burt was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also appeared with them at the 20th Century Superhero Legends Exhibit in California, dedicated to fighting evil.
