If you’ve been tuning into Today lately, you might’ve noticed something a little different about the lineup. That’s right, meteorologist Dylan Dreyer has been missing from the screen for a few episodes in April 2023. Fans started wondering where she was and what was going on. What Happened to Dylan Dreyer?
As April rolled on, viewers noticed Dylan wasn’t showing up for a string of broadcasts, and it left many wondering. On April 27, the Today team celebrated Bring Your Kids to Work Day by letting their little ones take over the anchor desk. But where were Dylan and her three adorable boys—Calvin, Oliver, and Russell—who she shares with her husband, Brian Fichera? Surprisingly, the family wasn’t part of the fun.
“Where were Dylan and at least one of her boys?” one fan tweeted after the family-focused episode aired. Clearly, the absence was noticed, and fans were eager to know the reason behind it.

Turns out, Dylan has been super busy filming the NBC series Earth Odyssey, which she’s been hosting since 2019. She also jetted off to Ohio to promote her children’s book series, Misty the Cloud. Dylan shared a glimpse of her adventures on Instagram during her time away from Today, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her exciting work.
"I’ve had quite the day filming @nbcearthodyssey … I’ve been kissed by a binturong, photobombed by a giraffe, fed a tamandua, held a parakeet, and met a baby sloth," Dylan posted. "You’re not going to want to miss these episodes … airing in June on @nbc."
Is Dylan Dreyer Still on 'Today'?
This isn’t the first time this year that Dylan has taken a break from Today. Back in January, she wasn’t in her usual spot next to Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones. Instead, she and Brian were off to Orlando, Florida, for an exciting event! Dylan was all geared up to compete at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, a celebrity golf tournament.
The first day of the tournament started on January 19. Even though her kids couldn’t make the trip, Dylan had her husband, Brian, by her side as her caddy.
"They’re in school, and I don’t want to take them out," Dylan explained to Hello! Magazine about why her kids didn’t travel to Florida. "So, my husband is my caddy, and it’s our first trip away without the kids in many years."
Dylan and Brian, who tied the knot in 2012, were thrilled to spend some quality time together on the golf course. They even shared a sweet video on Instagram dancing around New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport before their flight. "We’re free!" Dylan captioned the clip, with both of them grinning from ear to ear as they chatted about their getaway.

"He knows me so well," Dylan gushed about her supportive husband. "If I’m having a good round, he knows how to keep it going. He also knows how to snap me out of a bad round. He’s the perfect caddy because he’s in my head and gets my mind right."
Is Dylan Dreyer Leaving 'Today'?
While Dylan has taken some time off to focus on her family, she hasn’t announced any plans to leave Today. However, she did step back from her duties on Weekend Today in January 2022. But don’t worry—she’s still a mainstay on the weekday series.
"It’s all about family time," she said during her final episode on the weekend broadcast. "This job can get crazy, especially when we’re traveling and busy, but it’s so important to make time for family too. These boys are my whole life, and Brian and I—we love being a team on weekends and spending as much time as we can with them and having as much fun as we can. That’s really all I’m going to be doing, just sitting at home and loving up on those three."
