Hey there, friends! You know, Anderson Cooper, the man who has captivated audiences with his insightful reporting, has another side to him that’s just as inspiring. Becoming a dad was his ultimate dream, and now it’s become his reality. Spending time with his two adorable kids, Wyatt and Sebastian, in their two beautiful homes fills him with an overwhelming sense of joy and fulfillment.
Anderson Cooper's Journey into Fatherhood
At 56, Anderson couldn’t be more thrilled with life. In a heartfelt September interview with People, he shared how fatherhood has been nothing short of a sheer delight. When he’s not busy anchoring the news, you can find him bonding with Wyatt, who’s 3, and Sebastian, who’s just 19 months old. Whether it’s in their cozy New York City apartment or their charming second home in Connecticut, every moment with them is cherished.
A Day in the Life: Connecticut Adventures
Connecticut holds a special place in Anderson's heart. He loves taking Wyatt and Sebastian there to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life. “We have this little diner we visit every morning,” he says with a warm smile. “They absolutely adore the people who run it. And let’s not forget their favorite activity — swimming!” It’s these little routines that make life so magical. Anderson also treasures the afternoons when he gets them ready for their nap. “There’s nothing more precious than sitting with them, reading stories, and having them fall asleep in my arms. It’s pure bliss,” he adds.

Co-Parenting with Benjamin Maisani
Anderson shares this incredible journey with Benjamin Maisani, his former boyfriend. Though they’re no longer romantically involved, their friendship remains rock solid. “Wyatt calls me ‘daddy’ and Benjamin ‘papa.’ We’re a family,” Anderson explained during a February 2022 segment on Anderson Cooper 360. It’s a testament to their strong bond and mutual respect.
The Connecticut Dream Home
Back in 2014, Anderson purchased the breathtaking Tudor-style mansion in Connecticut while he and Benjamin were still dating. This 18-room home spans over 10,000 square feet and stands tall with its three stories. The backyard is a paradise in itself, featuring an Olympic-size swimming pool and a four-bedroom guest house. It’s no surprise that Anderson finds so much joy in spending time here with his family.

Creating Lasting Memories
Swimming isn’t the only activity that captivates Wyatt and Sebastian. They’ve also developed a fondness for playing with some of Anderson’s old toys. Both boys, who arrived via surrogate, have formed a sweet bond that brings immense happiness to Anderson. “Just watching their relationship grow is incredible,” he reflects. “I recently rediscovered wooden blocks that my brother and I used to play with. We drew robots on them and all sorts of things. Now, seeing Wyatt play with those blocks and build things is just mind-blowing.”
Guiding the Next Generation
When it comes to their future, Anderson is all about letting Wyatt and Sebastian explore their interests. As an Emmy-winning journalist with over three decades in the industry, he’s learned that being present as a father is his greatest priority now. “There’s so much happening in the world, and I want to be there to witness it with them,” he says tenderly. “I want to help figure out what drives them and support them in their passions.”
