Hollywood Stars Gear Up for the 2024 Oscars
As the glitz and glamour of Hollywood prepare for the 2024 Oscars in March, one star in particular has her fingers crossed for an invitation. Jamie Lee Curtis, known for her iconic role in the Halloween franchise, is eagerly hoping to join the star-studded event. Despite her illustrious career, the actress revealed that she has yet to receive a call from the Academy asking her to present an award this year.
Appearing on Today on January 16, Jamie, who celebrated her 65th birthday this year, shared her thoughts with a playful grin. “Oscar people: Am I presenting?” she quipped. “It’s usually a tradition that last year’s winner gets the nod to present this year. Well, they haven’t called yet.”
Reflecting on Last Year's Triumph
Jamie Lee Curtis made history last year when she won her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. It was a momentous occasion, especially considering her legendary parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, were both nominated for Oscars in their time. Her win was not only a personal triumph but also a celebration of the genre films that have defined her career.

Recalling the excitement of that night, Jamie said, “Would you please call? I’d love to get a dress and arrange things. It’s such a special event, and I’d be thrilled to be a part of it.”
A Heartfelt Acceptance Speech
During her Oscars acceptance speech last year, Jamie took a moment to honor those who have supported her journey. “To my family, my beautiful husband, Christopher Guest, our daughters, Annie and Ruby, my sister Kelly, we just won an Oscar,” she beamed to the audience. “And to all the fans who’ve embraced the genre movies I’ve made over the years, we just won an Oscar together!”
She also paid tribute to her late parents, saying, “My mother and my father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories, and now I’ve won one. It’s a dream come true.”
For last year’s Oscars, Jamie opted for a stunning Dolce & Gabbana gown, adorned with gems and featuring a corseted bodice. In a bold move, the event organizers swapped out the traditional red carpet for a champagne-colored one, marking the first time in 62 years this change occurred. Jamie playfully joked about her ensemble on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the carpet would match her "drapes."
Not everyone was a fan of the carpet's new hue. One X user likened it to a "corporate banquet at the airport Hilton." Host Jimmy Kimmel also got in on the fun, quipping, “I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed.”
