Michael J. Fox has faced his fair share of challenges since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but he’s choosing to focus on the bright side of life. In a recent interview with People, the beloved actor shared how his family continues to be his rock and how he's finding joy amidst the difficulties.

Life's Ups and Downs: A Year of Celebration

Michael, now 62, spoke candidly about the ups and downs of his journey, emphasizing the importance of staying positive. “You know, my daughter’s getting married too … good things are happening, and life is good,” he told People in an interview published on April 3. “And so, it’s been a good year, for sure.” While he didn’t reveal which of his three daughters is walking down the aisle, the excitement is palpable as the family gears up for this joyous occasion.

A Family That Stands Together

For Michael, his family has been the backbone of his strength. He shares three daughters—Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esmé—and a son, Sam, with his wife of 35 years, Tracy Pollan. The couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last July, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Tracy has been by Michael’s side through thick and thin, and he credits her unwavering support for helping him navigate the challenges of Parkinson’s disease.

Despite the physical challenges that come with Parkinson’s, Michael remains determined to push forward. “There’s been a lot of challenges,” he admitted. “A lot of physical challenges these days have been different bits, but just that I had a lot of stuff … I had a movie, a documentary, and a lot of obligations.”

With the help of his family and the incredible team he works with, Michael has not only met these challenges but has gone beyond them. He’s ventured into new experiences, both personally and professionally, and continues to advocate for Parkinson’s research through his foundation. “The whole thing is just keep having new experiences, whether it’s experiences that push forward what we’re trying to do and our mission with the foundation,” he explained.

Reflecting on his marriage, Michael spoke warmly about Tracy during a November 2023 episode of CBS Mornings. “It’s been great for me, I don’t know how it is for her,” he joked. “I love Tracy obviously and she’s an amazing person and has gone through a lot. I realize she has a life separate from me having Parkinson’s, from me being Alex Keaton or Marty McFly, she’s a person. I think that’s why it’s gone OK.”

Michael, who first met Tracy on the set of Family Ties, is proud to talk about the strong woman who has stood by him through everything. “She had indicated to me by saying, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health,” he said. “She was able to get me through it, and go through it with me. And she has for 35 years.”
