Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama are the latest power couple to grace our screens on HGTV! These two are setting out to transform homes on the breathtaking Hawaiian island of Oʻahu in their new show, Renovation Aloha. Picture this: a perfect blend of creativity, community spirit, and a passion for making dreams come true. That’s exactly what these two bring to the table.
Who Are Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama?
Let me introduce you to Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama, a married couple with a dynamic partnership that’s hard not to admire. Tristyn is the creative genius behind the designs, turning houses into dream homes with her impeccable eye for detail. On the other hand, Kamohai is the numbers guy, ensuring everything adds up and stays within budget. Together, they form an unstoppable team.
Before diving into the world of real estate and home renovations, Tristyn worked as a mental health counselor and even ran a nonprofit organization. Kamohai, meanwhile, was busy as a substance abuse counselor while also running a clothing store. Quite the duo, right? But they always knew they were destined for something bigger. “We’ve always been entrepreneurs; we just hadn’t found our thing yet,” Kamohai told HGTV. “I was hesitant at first, but something clicked during one of those seminars, and I thought, ‘Why not give it a shot?’”

What sets them apart isn’t just their skills but their deep commitment to giving back to the community. Whether it’s creating jobs or helping local families achieve their dream of homeownership, they’re all about making a difference. “Our goal is to work directly with local families,” Tristyn explained. “We often rely on word-of-mouth, relationships, and social media to find the right people. By selling off-market, we can cut out real estate commissions and keep costs down. This way, we help families build equity while still ensuring our business thrives.”
Season 1 of Renovation Aloha wrapped up filming in December 2023, and the couple couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come. Reflecting on their journey so far, they posted on Instagram, “It takes a village. Thank you all for believing in us and our mission. The best is yet to come!”

They Have a Large Family
When we say large family, we mean it! Kamohai has 87 first cousins, and home improvement seems to run in their blood. “Our family is like a mini-construction crew,” Kamohai joked in a press release. “We’ve got contractors, cabinet makers, and even garbage collectors. There’s literally someone in the family who can help with every aspect of our business.”
This close-knit family plays a crucial role in their renovation projects. “Our family is our backbone,” Tristyn shared with HGTV. “My brother is our project manager, and he’s incredible. My mom is a lifesaver when it comes to taking care of the kids while we’re working. My sister-in-law is a realtor and helps sell some of our homes. And Kamohai’s cousin owns a landscaping company that we work with regularly. Whenever we need help, the family steps up without hesitation. It’s such a blessing to have them by our side.”
They Are Proud Parents
Tristyn and Kamohai are also proud parents to two adorable kids, Yasiel and Vale. Raising their children in Oʻahu is a dream come true for the couple. “There’s no better place to raise kids than here,” Tristyn said. “You can’t go anywhere on Oʻahu without Kamohai bumping into someone he knows. It’s like living in a small town, but with the most beautiful scenery imaginable.”
