Meet the Napiers' New Fur Babies
Life in the Napier household just got a little more exciting! Erin and Ben Napier, the beloved stars of HGTV’s Home Town, recently introduced their newest family members during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. These aren’t just any dogs—they’re former hunting school dropouts with quite the backstory. Tune in as they spill all the details about their charming pups, Finn and Annie.
When host Jennifer Hudson asked the couple about their new additions, she couldn’t have been more intrigued. “I know you have some new additions in the family. What is that?” Jennifer inquired, sparking a delightful conversation about the couple's unexpected furry friends.
From Hunting Prospects to Family Pets
Ben Napier, the woodworker with a great sense of humor, explained the unique journey of their dogs. “Yeah, so we have two. Have you ever heard of the saying, ‘That dog won’t hunt?’ Well, these two dogs definitely wouldn’t hunt. They're hunting school dropouts,” Ben joked as a photo of the adorable pair appeared on screen. He went on to elaborate, “These dogs come from a champion bloodline, but they’re not exactly cut out for the water or retrieving. They’re more into snuggling and tearing up our shoes!”

Erin, who shared the news on Instagram, revealed that the pups are named Finn and Annie. “They’re like champion bloodline dogs, but these dogs wouldn’t get in the water and they wouldn’t retrieve. The company that bred them said, ‘You can just have them.’ So we adopted these hunting school dropouts,” Erin told Jennifer with a warm smile.
Life with the New Additions
For those who might be wondering, Finn and Annie have quickly become an integral part of the Napier family. The couple, already parents to two daughters, Helen and Mae, have found a cozy spot in their stunning 1920s cottage in Laurel, Mississippi, and their countryside vacation home, for their new furry friends to thrive. These settings provide ample space for the dogs to roam and play, making them feel right at home.
During the episode, Jennifer Hudson, known for her role on American Idol, asked the couple, “Have they gathered any hobbies? What are they into? What do they like to do?” Ben shared with a laugh, “They’re really into fetching, which the girls absolutely adore. They’re also really into snuggling, making them the perfect companions for family movie nights.”
While Finn and Annie bring endless joy to the Napier household, Erin admitted they’ve also developed a mischievous side. “They’ve been tearing up our shoes,” she confessed, drawing laughter from the audience. It seems like these pups have a knack for keeping things lively around the Napier home.

Community Engagement and Curiosity
Erin shared a heartwarming photo of Finn and Annie on her Instagram page back in October 2023. Fans couldn’t get enough of these cuties and were eager to learn more about their breed, origin, and how they’re bonding with Helen, 5, and Mae, 2. One curious commenter asked, “They’re so cute! Are they litter mates? We just adopted brothers, and it has been so fun seeing them grow and play together.”
Erin responded with enthusiasm, “They are! They were supposed to be duck dogs and have been through all the training, but they don’t like water. So they were gifted to us!” It’s clear that Finn and Annie have brought a new level of joy to the Napier family, proving that even hunting school dropouts can make the best family pets.
