During a live episode of the TODAY show on Wednesday, April 24, Savannah Guthrie left her co-hosts standing in the middle of the plaza for an adorable reason. In true Savannah style, she made a dash across the sidewalk, leaving everyone in stitches. It was a moment that reminded us all why we love her so much!
Savannah's Sudden Departure Captures Hearts
As the hosts gathered outside on the TODAY plaza for a lively segment, Hoda Kotb broke the news to Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Carson Daly about a surprise guest. “Do you know that there’s a cute baby?” Hoda said with a playful grin as Savannah, now 52, joined the group. The excitement was palpable as everyone turned their attention to the screen showing the adorable baby nestled in his mother's arms.
Who's the Lucky Baby?
Savannah couldn’t contain her excitement as she informed the audience, “That is a TODAY show baby!” It turned out the baby belonged to a producer named Carter. Savannah was so thrilled that she couldn’t resist running toward the baby. “Wait, where is this baby?” Savannah asked, to which Al, now 69, replied with a chuckle, “Right there.”

Without hesitation, Savannah took off in a sprint, leaving the others laughing and cheering her on. “Bye. Over to the weather,” she exclaimed, adding to the hilarity of the moment. Al joked with the audience, “You’ll never see that baby again, Carter,” as the rest of the hosts watched on, clearly amused by Savannah's antics.
The Sweet Encounter
Savannah didn’t just stop at running toward the baby; she picked up little Oliver, the baby in question, into her arms during the segment. The audience melted as Savannah cradled the tiny bundle of joy. Later in the episode, Oliver made a reappearance during a cooking segment. The little one sat comfortably in Savannah’s lap while Carson, 50, and Al participated in a cooking demonstration.
Carson couldn’t resist teasing Savannah in front of the audience. “Savannah stole Carter’s baby from the plaza,” he joked, earning laughter from everyone around him. It was a moment filled with warmth and joy, capturing the essence of the TODAY show’s close-knit family atmosphere.

Savannah is a proud mother of two kids, Vale and Charles, whom she shares with her husband, Mike Feldman. She has always been open about the joys and challenges of motherhood. In her new memoir, Mostly What God Does, she delves into her faith-based perspective on parenting and life.
“I wrote it for them, and it’s dedicated to them. It’s everything I would want to tell them,” she revealed to Today.com in February. “If something unexpected happened to me, this book would be my way of sharing the love and guidance I want them to carry forward.”
“I believe it’s my responsibility to provide them with the building blocks to understand the God that I know and to nurture that connection,” Savannah added thoughtfully. “At the same time, I recognize that when they grow up, it will be their choice. My job is to give them as much information and experience with God as I can, so they can make their own decisions.”
