When you think of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, you probably picture Hollywood legends. But to their first grandchild, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, they’re simply “Papa” and “Ya Ya.”

Rumer Willis, who welcomed her daughter Louetta last spring, gave an exclusive interview to Closer, shedding light on the unique names. “She’s still so little,” Rumer shared. “These names were their idea. It’s kind of a family tradition where everyone gets a playful nickname. It’s part of who we are.”

Rumer, the eldest of Bruce and Demi’s three daughters, emphasizes that laughter is the backbone of their family. “One of the best things I’ve inherited from both my parents is this sense of humor,” the 35-year-old actress explained during the opening night of the 24th Annual Beverly Hills Film Festival. “They’ve always encouraged silliness, playfulness, and not taking ourselves too seriously. Whether it was through our fashion choices, creative pursuits, or just making goofy faces, they let us express ourselves freely.”

    Growing Up in the Spotlight

Rumer reflects on her upbringing as the child of two famous actors. “There was always this expectation that I had to act a certain way,” she admitted. “But my parents told me it was okay to just be myself. They’ve always supported our individuality. That’s something I cherish deeply. We’re definitely an unconventional family, and I’m proud of that.”

A Year of Challenges and Strength

Last year, Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia, later reclassified as frontotemporal dementia. Despite the challenges, Rumer remains optimistic about her father’s progress. “He’s doing really well,” she said, adding that the overwhelming support from fans and loved ones has been a source of strength. “What’s been incredible is seeing just how much my dad means to so many people. Sharing our journey, our struggles, and our hopes as a family has been powerful. If it can bring comfort or hope to others going through something similar, then that’s what matters most to me.”
