Patrick Duffy Craves Stability in His Golden Years
At 75 years old, Patrick Duffy is ready for a quieter life. But as he and his girlfriend Linda Purl continue their whirlwind romance filled with constant travel and adventure, Patrick's longing for stability grows stronger. According to exclusive sources speaking to Closer, the iconic Dallas star is finding it challenging to keep up with Linda’s high-energy lifestyle. While their relationship thrives on excitement, Patrick yearns for simpler days.
It’s no secret that this dynamic duo has been globetrotting nonstop. Over just the past couple of months, they’ve jetted off to exotic destinations like Mexico, Tokyo, and New York City. For someone who’s spent decades building a career and now entering his golden years, Patrick finds this pace exhausting. “They don’t seem to stay in one place for very long,” reveals an insider. “And honestly, Patrick just wants to slow down and enjoy some peace.”
A Life Documented on Social Media
Since meeting in 2020, Patrick and Linda have been inseparable, and their adventures haven’t gone unnoticed. Linda, a former star of Happy Days, often shares glimpses of their travels on her Instagram page. From breathtaking landscapes to candid snapshots, her feed paints a vivid picture of their active lifestyle. As recently as June 17, Linda posted a photo of the pair wearing masks while traveling, captioning it with playful emojis: “Early out… on the road again.”

But behind the scenes, Patrick is struggling to keep up. “Living out of a suitcase can be draining, especially for someone his age,” explains the insider. “Patrick is such a kind-hearted guy that he doesn’t want to rock the boat, but deep down, he’s hoping for a more settled routine.”

A Change in Plans
Adding to Patrick’s stress is the sale of his beloved Oregon ranch, which fetched $5.75 million at auction in December 2023. Initially, Patrick thought settling into Linda’s home in Colorado would provide the stability he craved. However, Linda’s zest for adventure has kept them constantly on the move, burning through their savings in the process. “He’s always been quite frugal,” notes the insider, emphasizing how this lifestyle contrasts sharply with Patrick’s values.
Despite these challenges, Patrick remains deeply committed to Linda. In a joint statement to Closer, the couple expressed their love and excitement for their upcoming fourth anniversary. “We are very much in love and looking forward to celebrating our fourth anniversary later this month in Colorado,” they said. “Grateful for health, our boys, and dear friends.”
A Life of Contrast
Still, sources close to the couple insist that Patrick isn’t accustomed to this lavish lifestyle. “They’re eating out all the time, and he occasionally craves plain food,” explains the insider. “Years of this back-and-forth have taken a toll. The constant jet-setting is thrilling, sure, but Patrick wants to settle down in one place and create a home.”
Prior to dating Linda, Patrick was married to Carlyn Rosser from 1974 until her passing in 2017. Their connection began during the early days of the pandemic when mutual friends reconnected them via a group text chain. Patrick’s bold move to drive 20 hours to Linda’s doorstep marked the beginning of their romance. “I never thought I’d feel this way again,” Patrick told People in 2020, reflecting on the unexpected joy of finding love later in life.
