Mina Starsiak Hawk Talks About Returning To HGTV: The Honest Truth

Mina Starsiak Hawk Reveals Whether or Not She Will Return to TV

Hey there! So, the last episode of "Good Bones" aired back in October 2023. But guess what? Fans are still buzzing and hoping to see Mina Starsiak Hawk and her team back on HGTV. The show left a mark, and people want more of that magic. Now, the big question is—will Mina be stepping back into the spotlight anytime soon?

On Monday, June 3, Mina, who’s 39 years young, spilled the tea on her "Mina AF" podcast. She opened up about the possibility of returning to TV full-time and shared some pretty honest thoughts about what that might look like. Let’s dive into it.

Listen, Mina's been through a lot. She admitted, “For the most part, I’ve really loved making TV when it was fun and exciting. But let’s be real, the last two seasons were super tough—emotionally, mentally, financially, and physically draining. It got to a point where I felt like the entire weight of the show was on me. That pressure—deadlines, financial burdens, everything—it was wearing me down. I was trying to figure out a way to keep going, but I needed something more sustainable for my well-being.”

Mina, the brains behind Two Chicks and a Hammer, has been pretty open about the challenges she faced during the final season. There were rifts with co-stars, and let’s just say things weren’t always smooth sailing. Mina explained, “My part of the puzzle was definitely broken. But maybe not for everyone else involved. Some of the cast didn’t have as much at stake financially. It wasn’t their property, their money, or their business. For them, it was still fun. I really wanted to find a way to bring back that fun while balancing all the tough parts. If I can figure that out, it would be amazing.”

    What’s Next for Mina?

While Mina will be returning to HGTV for a two-episode spinoff documenting her lake house renovation, she hasn’t committed to another full-time TV series just yet. She went on to say, “Things change, and you have to adapt. Trying to figure out what kind of show would fit where I am in life right now—while also appealing to the audience and being affordable to produce—is a lot to think about. It’s kind of up in the air right now.”

Mina isn’t shutting the door on the idea of working on another show, but she’s clear that things would need to change to make it an ideal working environment. “People keep asking if I’d make another show. Honestly, I’d love to if I could find a way to do it that feels healthier and more balanced,” she shared.

    Potential New Show Ideas

Just recently, Mina was pitched an idea for a new series. Guess what? It leans back into the older "Good Bones" model, and there’s even talk of working with some of the same people again. But here’s the thing: Mina, who has kids Jack and Charlotte with her husband Steve Hawk, admitted that getting back into that same situation would be a bad move—for her mental, emotional, and financial well-being. “It’s just not the right choice for me right now,” she said.
