As part of her new role, Candace took on a significant executive position within the company. This allowed her to not only act in films but also to oversee and curate programming for the entire network. A few months after her announcement, Candace opened up about her choice to leave Hallmark after over a decade of collaboration and more than two dozen projects.
“The truth is, I’ve been under contract with Hallmark for such a long time, and it’s been an incredible journey,” she shared with Variety in September 2022. “Coincidentally, my contract was nearing its end when Great American Family came onto the scene. So, we didn’t start discussions with them until we were deep into negotiations with Hallmark for a renewal.”
By November 2022, Candace took a moment to reflect on her new venture with GAC Family.
“I wanted to tell stories that carry more meaning, purpose, and depth,” the Journey Back to Christmas actress explained to The Wall Street Journal Magazine. “I knew that the team at Great American Family shared my values. They’re Christians who love the Lord and are committed to promoting faith-based programming and wholesome family entertainment.”
Is Candace Cameron Bure Still Actively Involved with GAC Family?
Candace’s inaugural GAC Family movie, A Christmas … Present, made its debut on the network in November 2022. She remains an integral part of the network to this day. In April 2023, it was announced that she would star in her next holiday film, My Christmas Hero, which honors fallen soldiers during the holiday season.

“It wasn’t about leaving; it was about seizing an opportunity to help grow a new network that prioritizes faith and family in its content,” she stated during a Q&A via her Instagram Stories in May 2024. “I’m incredibly proud of the work I did at Hallmark for 15 years and cherish all the friendships I made there.”
The television star added, “I’m more than just an actor. Expanding my company and achieving success in business is vital to me.”
Besides addressing her departure from Hallmark, Candace teased some upcoming projects with GAC Family.
“I have mystery movies premiering in the fall on Great American Family called The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries,” she revealed during an Instagram Live session. “Additionally, I have a new Christmas movie airing in November on Great American Family Channel titled A Christmas Less Traveled.”
