Nicole Eggert recently gave an update on her ongoing battle with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer. The former Baywatch star, known for her iconic roles in the '90s, spoke candidly about her health and what’s next in her journey.
In a heartfelt conversation with People at the premiere of her new docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, Nicole opened up about where she stands in her fight against cancer. "I’m doing well," she shared. "I’ve finished my treatment and I’m now in this sort of gray area, waiting for more imaging results. Hopefully, we’ll move toward surgery soon."
Awaiting the Next Steps
Nicole explained that the hardest part of her journey is the uncertainty that comes with waiting for the next steps. "It’s tough being in this gray area because you don’t really know what’s going to happen next," she admitted. "When I was actively receiving treatment, it felt like I was doing something productive. Now, it’s all about waiting and trusting the process."

Finding Strength in Meditation and Family
During this challenging time, Nicole has leaned heavily on meditation to help calm her mind and find peace amidst the chaos. "It’s been incredibly helpful," she said. "Meditation helps me stay grounded and focused on what really matters." Beyond meditation, Nicole also finds solace in spending quality time with her daughters, Dilyn and Keegan. "They keep me on my toes," she laughed. "Even my 13-year-old doesn’t give me any special treatment. It’s like, 'Mom, let’s go here, let’s do that.' They’re such a source of strength for me."
Her Diagnosis Journey
Nicole received her cancer diagnosis in December 2023, which she publicly shared just a month later. She recounted how she first discovered the lump during a self-exam and noticed a significant weight gain, prompting her to seek medical advice. "It was throbbing and hurting so much," she recalled. "I went straight to my general practitioner, who immediately told me I needed to get it checked out. Unfortunately, getting an appointment was tough. Everything was booked solid, so I had to wait until the end of November to finally get it done."

Nicole’s biggest fear throughout this journey has been the thought of her daughters losing their mother. "Dilyn is an adult now, but I still have a 12-year-old at home who relies on me entirely," she revealed. "I don’t have any family nearby to help. This has made me realize that I can’t give up. I have to fight this for her. She needs me more than anything or anyone else."
Shaving Her Head: A Moment of Empowerment
In March 2024, Nicole shared a powerful video on Instagram documenting her decision to shave her head. The video featured the iconic Beastie Boys track "Fight For Your Right" playing in the background. "Maybe healing involves not so much changing ourselves but allowing ourselves to be who we are," the caption read, quoting Madeleine Eames. For Nicole, this moment was not just about losing her hair but embracing her true self during a difficult time.
Work as Therapy
Nicole is a producer on After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, and she credits working on the project with helping her through this trying period. "Having a young daughter and this project has given me purpose," she explained. "It keeps me motivated and driven every single day. Life has a way of working out for a reason, and this project has been a great distraction. My daughters have kept me on my toes, and I’m so grateful for that."
After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun premieres on August 28 on Hulu, offering fans a chance to see Nicole both in front of and behind the camera.
