Today cohost Jenna Bush Hager recently opened up about some of the quirks, joys, and surprises of her life. From her love for teaching to ghostly encounters in the White House, here are five interesting facts about the beloved TV personality that you might not have known.

Teaching Was Her First True Love

Even as a child, Jenna Bush Hager had her sights set on becoming a teacher. "When I was little, it was just something I knew I was going to do," she explains. "So when the Today show came knocking and asked if I'd be interested in joining them, I was like, 'No way. Teaching was always my dream. That's what I've always wanted to do.' But life has a way of surprising you, and now I absolutely adore my job here. I think being on TV gives me a different platform to teach, and that's something I truly cherish."

She’s a Believer in Ghosts

Living in the White House during her father George W. Bush's presidency wasn't all about formal dinners and state affairs. Jenna recalls a spooky experience she shared with her sister Barbara Bush. "We were living in the White House, and one night we both heard what sounded like 1920s piano music coming from our bedroom fireplace," she says. "The ghosts were friendly, though. They came back the next week, but this time we heard opera music instead. It was eerie, but also kind of cool, you know?"

Jenna and her husband, Henry Hager, have a unique love story. "We were only dating for three months when I decided to take the plunge," she laughs. "He told me he loved me, and I was like, 'Me too! Let's get married!' Now, he didn’t jump at the offer right away, but eventually, he proposed in 2007, and we got married the following year. It was the best decision I ever made."

    She’s an Early Bird

For Jenna, mornings start early, around 5 a.m. "I wake up, work out, and then dive into meetings. The Today show runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and in the afternoons, I’m usually on shoots or working on our Read With Jenna book club. It's a busy schedule, but I always make sure to end my day with my kids. They’re my priority," she shares warmly.

She Loves Laughter, but Kids Stay Off Mic

Laughter is a big part of Jenna’s life, but sometimes it can get a little out of hand. Her daughter Mila once revealed on camera that Jenna had peed her pants during a fit of laughter at home. Despite her love for a good laugh, Jenna draws the line when it comes to her kids being too close to the microphones. "They’re welcome to watch the show, but they’re nowhere near the mics," she jokes.
