She recounted her journey from being a social worker to becoming a TV star. “This was my first pitch meeting at @foodnetwork 8 years ago! I remember that day like it was yesterday,” she wrote. “I was so nervous but also incredibly excited. I knew this was my big break… I just felt in my heart that I’d leave that meeting with my very own cooking show.”
“Looking back, I realize now how naive I was about the entertainment industry,” she admitted. “You don’t just walk in as a social worker and walk out with your own cooking show the same day [grinning face with sweat emoji]. I left the meeting without a show, but I gained something far more valuable: motivation. I wasn’t ready to accept ‘no’ as a final answer. Instead, I took it as a ‘not right now.’”
Despite not landing a job right away, Kardea remained undeterred. She returned to her position at the nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters and submitted her resignation, trusting in the timing of her dreams. “I’ve always believed in divine timing,” she explained. “March 16, 2015, wasn’t my day, but I knew my moment would come when it was supposed to. Sure enough, on November 3, 2018, I found myself back in Charleston filming a pilot. And on July 28, 2019, Delicious Miss Brown premiered, marking the beginning of an incredible journey!”
