Hoda Kotb is a household name, but even she isn’t immune to being mistaken for someone else. The beloved TV personality recently opened up about the one celebrity fans constantly confuse her with. And no, it’s not who you might think.

During an episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna on Monday, October 28, Hoda, 60, sat down with guest cohost Laura Jarrett, 40, to chat about celebrity look-alikes. Jenna Bush Hager, 42, was out sick that day, so Laura stepped in to keep things lively. As it turns out, the topic of doppelgängers made for some pretty entertaining conversation.

The discussion started after a fun contest held in Lower Manhattan to find the best Timothée Chalamet look-alike. Timothée, 28, even showed up to surprise fans on Sunday, October 27, proving that he’s just as charming in person as he is on screen. Naturally, this sparked a conversation about celebrity resemblances.

Who Does Hoda Kotb Get Mistaken For?

“People say you look like one person in particular,” Laura teased Hoda during their segment. “I don’t see it, but you get it a fair amount.”

Hoda laughed and admitted, “I always get Gayle King. We kind of have it.” Cue a side-by-side photo of Hoda and Gayle, 69, popping up on the screen. The resemblance? Well, let’s just say some people definitely see it.

But Laura wasn’t convinced. “It depends,” she said. “I mean, people see it, but I’m not really seeing it.” Hoda shrugged and replied, “You know what? People see what they see. It’s all good.”

What About Laura’s Celebrity Look-Alikes?

Curious about Laura’s own celebrity doppelgängers, Hoda asked her guest cohost which stars fans have compared her to. Laura ticked off a few names: “In the past, Paula Patton, Meghan Markle, Alicia Keys.”

Hoda nodded approvingly. “You have all of that,” she said, gesturing toward Laura’s face. “I mean, who wouldn’t want to hear that, right?” Laura agreed wholeheartedly. “I’ll take all of that,” she joked.

Hoda then pointed out that Laura’s smile reminded her of Alicia Keys, 43. “You kind of have the smile,” she said, referencing a side-by-side photo of Laura and Alicia. It was clear that Laura appreciated the compliment, but she joked, “Well, I’ll take whatever I can get!”

This isn’t the first time Hoda has talked about being mistaken for Gayle King. Last year, during an episode featuring guest Issa Rae, 39, Hoda mentioned the same thing. Issa revealed she’s often mistaken for Orange Is the New Black actress Danielle Brooks. When Hoda asked Issa who she thought fans mistook her for, Issa guessed Vanessa Williams.

“I get mistaken for someone else who’s very lovely and works on a competing network,” Hoda joked before finally revealing it was Gayle King that fans constantly compare her to. Issa responded with, “It’s racist, but I love that though, I see it.”

Jenna Bush Hager Weighs In

During that same conversation, Jenna shared her own experience with being mistaken for someone else. “I’ve gotten Brooke Hogan… Or somebody will be like, ‘Aren’t you some politician’s daughter?’” she revealed. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah, sure.’”

Of course, Jenna is the daughter of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. Her remarks drew laughter from everyone in the studio.

As fans gear up for Hoda’s departure from Today in early 2025, they can’t help but appreciate moments like these. NBC hasn’t announced her replacement yet, but Hoda already has some advice for whoever takes over.

“Whoever’s interested in that seat, and it’s maybe the best seat in television, I think the best advice I have is to be 1,000 percent who you are, because that’s really the key,” she told People on October 9. “And the other thing, too, is sometimes to me, part of the magic is to be able to delight in the person sitting next to you. It’s such a small thing, but sometimes when you’re with someone, if you just let them shine. Give everyone a second, because who wants to be the person at the cocktail party who’s talking all the time?”
