Hey there, friends. You know Dave Coulier, right? The iconic star of Full House? Well, recently, he opened up about something deeply personal. Dave revealed that he’s been diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In an emotional but hopeful interview with People, he shared how he’s handling chemotherapy and fighting through this tough battle. Let’s dive in and see how this beloved entertainer is keeping his spirits high while tackling this challenge head-on.
Here’s How Dave’s Journey Began
It all started back in October 2024. Dave wasn’t feeling great—he thought it was just a cold. But then, he noticed his lymph nodes were swollen. After running a bunch of tests, including scans and a biopsy, doctors gave him some tough news: he had a pretty aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma called B-cell lymphoma. "I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming," Dave told People in an interview published on November 13, 2024. He described the experience as a whirlwind, but he’s determined to stay strong.
What Exactly Is Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma?
Let’s break it down. According to the American Cancer Society, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (or NHL for short) is a type of cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. These cells are part of our immune system, which means this disease can really knock your body off balance. It’s a serious diagnosis, but with the right treatment, many people go on to lead full, healthy lives. Dave’s no stranger to fighting tough battles, and he’s ready to take this one on too.

Dave’s Support System Keeps Him Going
Dave didn’t face this news alone. He’s got an amazing support system around him, especially his wife, Melissa Bring. "We all kind of put our heads together and said, ‘OK, where are we going?’ And they had a very specific plan for how they were going to treat this," Dave explained. He even shared some good news—his bone marrow test came back negative, which means his chances of beating the cancer jumped to around 90%. "And so that was a great day," he said, clearly grateful for the progress he’s making.

Dave’s got plenty to look forward to, even during this tough time. His son, Luc, is expecting a baby with his wife, which means Dave will soon be a grandpa! Luc is the child he shares with his ex-wife, Jayne Modean, from their marriage in the early '90s. "I looked at how those words affected [Melissa] and I thought, you know what, I’m going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I’m going to be strong for her," Dave said, showing just how much he values his family’s support.
Dave’s Chemo Journey: Ups and Downs
So far, Dave has gone through six rounds of chemotherapy. Like many people going through treatment, he’s had his good days and bad days. "Some days are nauseous and dizzy, and then there’s other days where the steroids kick in, and I feel like I have a ton of energy," he admitted. But despite the challenges, Dave’s keeping busy. He’s been podcasting and hanging out with friends, doing everything he can to stay positive.
And let’s talk about that sense of humor—he hasn’t lost it! "My sister was a registered nurse, and so she’s seen this from different optics than I have," Dave joked. "She’s been so supportive and she’s funny. So we’re making jokes about this. One of my jokes is in four short weeks I’ve gone from a Virgo to a Cancer. I’m a huge hockey fan. So when they said ‘You’ve got NHL,’ I thought, ‘I finally made it to the NHL.’" Clearly, Dave’s keeping things light-hearted, and that’s a powerful way to stay strong.
