Hey there, TV fans! If you're one of the millions who have tuned into Blue Bloods over the years, you're probably wondering what’s in store for the show’s final episode. Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan, recently opened up about how the beloved series will come to a close—and it might leave you wanting more. Let’s dive into what she had to say.
Erin Reagan Speaks: Bridget Moynahan on Saying Goodbye
In a recent sit-down with TVLine Spotlight, Bridget, who's been a cornerstone of the show for 14 seasons, shared her thoughts on what viewers can expect when the curtain finally falls on the Reagan family. The 53-year-old actress revealed that the show’s conclusion on December 13 will leave fans with a mix of emotions. “I think that fans will feel somewhat satisfied, but then I think you’re going to want more,” she said with a laugh. “Some things will be wrapped up, but others… well, let’s just say they’re not. There are these little nuggets where people are going to be like, ‘Yes!!!’ And then, just like that, the show’s over. It’s going to be bittersweet in some ways.”
Could a Reunion Movie Be in the Works?
When asked if there’s any possibility of the cast coming together for a reunion movie in the future, Bridget didn’t rule it out. “Yeah, why not? We can’t have that many years,” she joked, hinting that the door isn’t completely closed on revisiting the Reagan family in some capacity. While nothing is set in stone, it’s comforting to know that the cast seems open to revisiting their iconic roles down the road.

Showrunner Kevin Wade Weighs In
Kevin Wade, the showrunner behind Blue Bloods, also chimed in about the finale, ensuring fans that they won’t be left hanging. “There won’t be any cliffhangers because there’s no cliff, but it ends,” he told TV Insider. “Anything we would do that was an open question would by definition never be answered, so we’re trying to bring character stories to a close in that one. Obviously, we have some stories, some plot, but no, it’s designed as the last one.”

Wade also gave fans a glimpse into the future of Frank Reagan, portrayed by the legendary Tom Selleck. “I’m pretty sure that Frank would stay in his job until the series ended,” he explained. “We didn’t really pursue the idea of him retiring because the show is built on him being the police commissioner of New York City. To take a detour during the last mile would be strange. Frank generates stories. He’s the CEO of 35,000 cops, and that’s a story engine we didn’t want to lose.”
Bridget Reflects on Her Time as Erin Reagan
For Bridget Moynahan, playing Erin Reagan has been the role of a lifetime. She expressed her confusion over the show’s cancellation, especially given its impressive ratings and loyal fan base. “I don’t quite understand it. But it is what it is,” she admitted. “We have incredible ratings, and there’s a loyal fan base that would make time on a Friday night to watch the show or catch up over the weekend.”
She also highlighted the show’s appeal to younger audiences, saying, “There’s a younger generation coming in and appreciating the great stories, but also the good values. Once Blue Bloods is off the air, there’s going to be a void in the TV lineup. It’s hard to find those kinds of values in stories on television right now.”
