Abigail Hawk is truly grateful for Tom Selleck's unwavering support after he helped her secure a series regular role on the hit show "Blue Bloods." The actress shared that when she first joined the show, her role was only intended to be a brief cameo during season one. But thanks to Tom's advocacy, her career took an incredible turn.
During the special episode Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy, which aired on CBS on November 29, Abigail opened up about her journey. "My audition was for the episode right after the pilot once it got picked up," she explained. "It was really only meant to be one episode, but things changed for me in a big way."
Tom Selleck, the legendary actor who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan, chimed in during the special, saying, "You know, Abigail started with just one line, and she earned that position. She brought something extraordinary to the table." At 79 years old, Tom continues to inspire those around him, both on and off-screen.

Fast forward to today, and Abigail, 42, has portrayed Abigail Baker for all 14 seasons of the show, appearing in over 260 episodes. "Tom advocated for me, and it changed my life," Abigail said with heartfelt gratitude.
Her First Day on Set
For Abigail, her first day on set was a moment she'll never forget. "I remember my first day working with Tom. He pulled me aside and gave me some advice that really stuck with me," she recalled during an interview with Country Living in October. "Tom explained how he wanted to create an authentic reality on the show. He described Frank Reagan as this larger-than-life figure, a king who couldn't show his feelings because of the weight of his responsibilities. But his trusted advisors, like my character, could show the stress and emotions that came with the job."
Learning From the Best
Abigail, who hails from the theater world, found herself stepping into the shoes of a character very different from her own personality. "I'm naturally expressive, but here I was playing this stoic, composed, and poised woman. Tom was always there to guide me. He'd take me aside and offer suggestions in the most respectful way. He'd say, 'I'm not telling you what to do, but if I were you, have you considered this?' Those small tweaks made all the difference in the world," she said. "Every time he gave me advice, it was like a lightbulb went off, and I'd nail the next take."

The End of an Era
Unfortunately, the beloved series "Blue Bloods" is coming to an end, with the season 14 finale airing on Friday, December 13. Abigail made sure to commemorate her time on the show by planning to take a special piece of memorabilia with her. "I'm making it very public what I'm taking with me. It's that door right behind you because I've let so many people in and out of that office," she said, pointing to Commissioner Frank Reagan's iconic glass door. "I already have a minivan ready to transport it. We're all set to go!"
She wasn't the only one with her eye on the set pieces. Donnie Wahlberg also took a couple of items to remember the show by. "I took my two Danny Reagan costumes — my blue suit and my dress blues," the actor revealed in an interview with People published on November 30. "I put them on mannequins and placed them in a Wahlburgers restaurant."
Donnie added, "I really had no intention of taking anything from the set until I learned that the table and chairs were just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. I decided to take them too." The New Kids on the Block singer plans to rotate the table and chairs between multiple Wahlburgers locations, giving fans a chance to see them in different states. "I'll set it up where fans can sit at the table and take pictures. And then I’m going to raffle it off for charity for the DEA, the Detectives Endowment Association, for the Widows and Children’s Fund," Donnie, 55, explained.
