It’s tough to find the right words when you’re overwhelmed with emotion. That’s exactly what happened to Marie Osmond as she joined her co-hosts on The Talk to discuss the heart-wrenching loss of Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, along with seven others, in a tragic helicopter crash on January 26. Through her tears, the legendary performer made it clear that she wanted Vanessa Bryant to know she’s not alone in this unimaginable grief.
A Moment of Compassion
Marie, 60, shared her heartfelt thoughts during the CBS talk show on January 27. She expressed not only admiration for Kobe as one of the greatest basketball players of all time but also as one of the most remarkable human beings she’s ever encountered. "He wasn’t just an incredible athlete," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "He was someone who cared deeply about people and gave back in ways that touched so many lives." Marie then turned her focus to Vanessa, saying, "My heart breaks for Vanessa. I know what it’s like to lose a child, but I can’t even begin to imagine losing the love of your life and a child at the same time. That kind of pain is unimaginable."

Marie’s Personal Connection
Marie, who tragically lost her son Michael to suicide in 2010, could barely hold back her tears as she thought about Vanessa, 37, and the couple’s other daughters—Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months. She was visibly shaken, trying to imagine how they were coping with such an overwhelming loss. "My deepest prayers go to Vanessa and the other kids," Marie said, her voice breaking with emotion. "These children have lost their daddy and their sister. So, I’m sending out so much love and support to them during this unimaginable time."
