Hey there, let's dive into a little Hollywood drama, shall we? It seems like Antonio Banderas, the suave Spanish actor, is heading to the Oscars this year. But guess what? If he wants to bring a posse, it's gonna cost him. Big time. Maybe it’s better we just watch all the glitz and glamour from the comfort of our couches, right?
The Price of Stardom
During a candid chat on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Antonio revealed just how pricey it is to snag tickets for the Academy Awards. Now, you might think, "Hey, if you're nominated, it's all on the house." Not so fast. Turns out, even A-listers have to pony up some cash if they want to bring extra guests. Antonio explained to the audience, “You only get four tickets, and that includes you.” So, if Antonio wants to bring along more friends or family, he’s got to dip into that 'Puss in Boots' fortune. “And then you have to pay. Yeah, I’m paying... I think it’s around $750 per extra ticket,” he added with a laugh.

James Corden Can’t Believe It
James Corden was utterly flabbergasted when Antonio dropped this bombshell. “Shut the front door! $750 to watch a group of millionaires give each other gold statues?” James exclaimed, clearly thrown off by the whole concept. He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that even for industry insiders, the cost of attending the Oscars is steep. And for regular folks? Forget about it. Antonio chimed in, “Yeah, that’s for people who are actually involved in this. I think the tickets for normal people... I don’t know the exact number, but for someone who isn’t in the industry at all? It’s probably even more than that.”
James couldn’t help but joke, “That’s a discount?!” He then teased Antonio, “Shut up. Antonio, you’ve got that 'Puss in Boots' money. You got the 'Shrek' money, so you’re good to go.”
A Star with Heart
Of course, Antonio will be at the Oscars this year. After all, he’s up for Best Actor for his role in Pain and Glory, alongside the incredible Penélope Cruz. But when he’s not busy dazzling audiences with his performances, Antonio is all about family. He shares a 23-year-old daughter, Stella, with his ex-wife and fellow actress Melanie Griffith. Despite their split, Antonio and Melanie maintain a close bond. He’s been an important figure in the lives of Melanie’s other children, Dakota Johnson and Alexander Bauer, too.

Even though Antonio and Melanie aren’t married anymore, their bond remains strong. Antonio once told People magazine, “Melanie is not my wife anymore, but I think she is my best friend. I love her and will love her until the day I die. She’s my family.”
