Let’s talk about the royal family drama—or rather, the lack thereof. Despite all the buzz surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from their royal duties, Queen Elizabeth isn’t buying into the "rift" narrative. In fact, the queen is doing everything in her power to make sure her grandson knows he’s always welcome in the family. According to an insider speaking exclusively to Closer Weekly, Elizabeth and Harry had a meaningful chat over lunch on Sunday, March 1, where the queen made it crystal clear: family comes first, and Harry’s happiness matters most.
Heart-to-Heart: The Queen and Harry Connect
“The queen and Harry met for lunch on Sunday for what can only be described as a heart-to-heart,” the source explains. “Look, Megxit may have caused a stir in the media, but Elizabeth isn’t interested in drama. The last thing she wants is for Harry to feel like he’s been pushed out or estranged from the family. She made sure he knew that during their meeting.”

Even though Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, have swapped their U.K. home for a fresh start in Canada with their 9-month-old son Archie, the 93-year-old queen isn’t about to let distance affect their bond. “Elizabeth is well aware that Harry has battled depression in the past,” the royal insider continues. “She’s always worried about him, but more than anything, she wants to see him happy and content with his life. That’s what matters most to her.”

A Door Always Open: The Queen’s Promise to Harry
“She made it clear to him that he’s always welcome back if he ever changes his mind about living in North America,” the source adds. “This meeting was a turning point for Harry. He walked away feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. It was a success.”
Since the royal couple—who tied the knot in May 2018 and welcomed their first child in May 2019—announced their decision to step back from their royal duties and split their time between the U.K. and North America in early 2020, the red-haired prince and the former Suits star have been glowing with newfound joy.
Life in Canada: A Breath of Fresh Air
“One of Harry and Meghan’s favorite pastimes in Canada is going on long walks in the woods with Archie and their dogs, far from the prying eyes of the media. It’s a lifestyle Harry’s never experienced before, and he’s absolutely loving it,” a separate insider told Closer. “Being surrounded by nature and away from the chaos is like heaven to Harry. He says he finally feels at peace, and the same goes for Meghan. They’re both thriving in this new chapter.”
