In fact, it wasn’t until weeks after they met that Alec made his move. During an appearance as his guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Hilaria shared this charming story with the world.
From Handshakes to Heartbeats: Alec’s Unique Courtship
Hilaria Baldwin recounted the early days of her relationship with Alec Baldwin during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in March 2020. “Do you guys know that he shook my hand for six whole weeks and didn’t kiss me when we met? True story,” she laughed. Hilaria described how Alec would drop all kinds of hints about their future together. He’d tell her about how they were going to get married, spend the rest of their lives together, and have tons of kids. But at the end of every night, Alec would simply shake her hand. “It was like he was treating me like a business partner or something,” she joked.
While hosting the show, Alec Baldwin tried to explain his method. “I didn’t want you to think that I just wanted to have sex with you,” he said, defending his slow approach. Alec wanted to make sure Hilaria knew he was serious about building a real relationship, not just looking for a quick fling.

The Love That Grew: How Alec and Hilaria Made It Work
Even though Alec took his time to get to know Hilaria, the yoga instructor admitted she was still very much into him. “Hey, look, it worked,” she said with a big smile. Their slow start turned into a beautiful relationship, and they’ve been together ever since. Alec, now 61, and Hilaria, 36, have four adorable kids together: Carmen, 6, Rafael, 4, Leonardo, 3, and Romeo, 1. Alec is also a proud dad to his 24-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from his first marriage to Kim Basinger.
When asked about how their 29-year age gap affects their parenting, Hilaria said her millennial attitude helps her keep things fresh. “It works well because I’m very type-A personality and I need to be the boss,” she explained. “So he goes off and he doesn’t bother me too much as I parent, but then he’ll do like the typical dad stuff that drives me crazy. Like I’ll have the kids ready for bed and he’ll go in there and he’s like, ‘Let’s wrestle,’ and then he leaves and he’s like, ‘Enjoy putting them to bed.’” She couldn’t help but laugh as she shared this relatable parenting moment.
