Family Celebrations Go Virtual for Prince Louis’ Special Day
April 23, 2020, marked Prince Louis' second birthday, a milestone that, like so many other events in 2020, was impacted by the global coronavirus pandemic. While the young royal couldn’t physically celebrate with his extended family, the day was filled with plenty of love and well-wishes, especially on social media platforms. His family made sure to brighten his day with heartfelt shout-outs, proving that distance doesn’t diminish affection.
The official Instagram account of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip posted a warm birthday message for Prince Louis. “Happy Birthday to Prince Louis who is celebrating his second birthday today,” they wrote, accompanied by a few adorable snapshots. These photos, taken by none other than his mom, Kate Middleton, showcased the mischievous side of the young prince as he had his hands covered in paint. At just 38 years old, Kate continues to show her knack for photography, capturing the essence of her children's personalities in every shot.

Prince Charles Joins the Celebration with a Special Moment
Prince Charles also took to Instagram to celebrate his grandson's special day. The Clarence House account, which represents the Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, shared a tender moment between Louis and his grandad. The photo depicted Charles giving Louis a loving hug, capturing the bond between the generations. “A very Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns two today,” the caption read, melting hearts across the globe.

Plans Adjusted Due to Pandemic
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing health crisis, Kate and Prince William had to make some adjustments to Louis' birthday plans. A source revealed to Closer Weekly on March 25 that the lavish birthday party they initially planned for Anmer Hall had to be canceled. “They were planning a get-together at Anmer Hall the weekend before, with all his little friends and an entertainer,” the insider shared. However, the couple decided not to let the pandemic dampen the celebration entirely. Instead, they opted for a smaller, more intimate gathering with just immediate family, ensuring Louis still felt the love and excitement of his special day.
Brotherly and Sisterly Love Makes the Day Special
Even without a big party, Prince Louis was in for a treat with his siblings, Prince George, aged 6, and Princess Charlotte, 4. These two have been including their younger brother in their play sessions, making sure he feels part of the fun. Another source told Closer on March 23 that the trio often pretends to be in a rock band, with Louis loving every moment of it. “Louis loves singing and dancing, just like his sister, Charlotte,” the source explained. Meanwhile, George has been learning how to play the guitar and piano, occasionally earning a playful ear-covering from their mom, Kate, who finds the noise hilarious.
