There’s nothing like the bond between brothers, and musician Donny Osmond proved just that when he celebrated his older brother Merrill Osmond's birthday in style. At 67 years young, Merrill received nothing short of love and admiration from his famous sibling. Donny, a father of five, turned to Instagram to give his brother a heartfelt shout-out that touched fans worldwide.
On Thursday, April 30, Donny, now 62, posted a blast-from-the-past photo of him, Merrill, and their brothers, captioning it with pure affection: “#HappyBirthday to the handsome guy in the middle! I’m so grateful for all the unforgettable moments we’ve shared together. Wishing you nothing but the best on your big day, Merrill. Love ya!” He added a playful twist, challenging his followers to guess the year the photo was taken. “Anyone have a guess for what year this photo was captured? #TheOsmonds.”

Memories That Last a Lifetime
While Donny didn’t disclose the exact year the nostalgic photo was taken, fans speculated it might date back to the early '70s. This was the golden era when the Osmond family was at the peak of their fame. When the group disbanded in 1975, Donny embarked on a successful solo career alongside his sister Marie Osmond, while Merrill focused on raising a family of his own with six children.

Donny wasn’t done expressing his admiration for his brother. On Twitter, he penned another sweet tribute: “From spoon-feeding your baby brother to earning your honorary doctorate degree, you’ve been one of my greatest examples through it all. I’m so grateful for all the good times we’ve shared. Wishing you the very best on your big day, Merrill. Partying face. Love ya!”
The Osmond Legacy Continues
The last time Merrill joined his family for a musical reunion was during a special performance to celebrate Marie’s 60th birthday on The Talk. Reflecting on her career, Marie admitted, “I think career-wise I wouldn’t be here without 'Paper Roses.' I was 12, and that song launched me into 'I’m A Little Bit Country, [I’m A Little Bit Rock and Roll]' for Donny and Marie. But if you really go back to the beginning, none of us would be here without the four original Osmond brothers, and they started on the Andy Williams Show.”
These four original Osmond brothers—Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay—were the foundation of the Osmond music dynasty. Their younger siblings, Donny and Jimmy, joined them later, propelling the group to international stardom and creating memories that have lasted generations.
