Let’s take a trip down memory lane to a sitcom that brought joy to millions. Kelsey Grammer didn’t exactly jump at the chance to reprise his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in a Cheers spin-off. But, hey, the network convinced him, and boy, did it pay off. Frasier went on to win 37 Primetime Emmys, becoming a beloved staple of television for 11 glorious seasons.
A Reunion to Remember
Fast forward to today, and Kelsey found himself reconnecting with his former costars in a heartwarming online chat. David Hyde Pierce (Niles), Jane Leeves (Daphne), and Peri Gilpin (Roz) all came together, sharing stories and laughter. “It was love,” Kelsey reminisced, reflecting on the camaraderie that made the show so special. The late John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s cantankerous dad, Martin, was also a cherished part of the cast.
Uncredited Stars and Memorable Moments
One of the show’s clever running gags was the use of uncredited celebrities calling in to Frasier’s radio advice program. These surprise cameos added an extra layer of excitement and humor. Over the years, the show featured calls from the likes of Ben and Jerry Stiller, Mel Brooks, Stephen King, and the legendary Mary Tyler Moore. Kelsey fondly recalls the episode with Eddie Van Halen, saying it was one of his favorites.

Niles and Daphne: A Love Story
Another iconic element of the show was Niles’ unrelenting infatuation with Daphne. This brilliant idea came from Jane herself. She envisioned Daphne fixing the plumbing under the sink while Niles stood by, cocktail in hand, gazing at her with admiration. This dynamic became a cornerstone of the show’s humor and romance.
As the series progressed, Niles and Daphne’s relationship blossomed into a pivotal plot point. Meanwhile, Frasier’s interactions with Eddie, Martin’s Jack Russell terrier, provided endless entertainment. David Hyde Pierce shared a hilarious story about Eddie’s impressive trick repertoire. "The dog was so talented that they kept coming up with new tricks for him each week," he said. "But one day, in front of the live audience, Eddie just went wild, performing every trick he'd ever learned from the past five episodes. After that, they decided to give the poor pup a break!"
Goodnight, Seattle
When the curtain fell on Frasier in 2004, Kelsey made sure to take a little piece of the show home with him. "I took the piano," he confessed. "But I did have to pay Steinway for it." Signed by his fellow castmates, the piano now resides in his Palm Springs home, serving as a cherished conversation piece. "It's quite the conversation starter!" he joked.
