Let me tell you a story about Susan Sarandon, one of Hollywood's most iconic figures. In a recent candid interview on the "Divorced, Not Dead" podcast, Susan shared some deep thoughts about her life, her past relationships, and what it's like to be single in her 70s. As she put it, this is the first time she's ever been on her own, and it's been quite the journey of self-discovery. "It's been an interesting period," said the Oscar-winning actress, reflecting on how being alone has changed her perspective.

A New Chapter in Life

At 74 years old, Susan Sarandon is embracing this unique phase of her life with open arms. During the podcast, she revealed that she's "pretty open to the idea of being with someone." Now, this might come as a surprise to some, but let's face it—Susan has always marched to the beat of her own drum. For the past year, she's been navigating life without a romantic partner, and she admitted it's been an eye-opening experience. "To not have somebody that gets another vote about everything in my life … [it's] interesting," she told host Caroline Stanbury.

Her Journey Through Love

Looking back, Susan has always been drawn to partnerships. She tied the knot early in life with fellow actor Chris Sarandon, but their marriage ended after 12 years in 1979. Interestingly, Susan shared that she didn't want to get married the first time around. "But I was in college at [Catholic University of America] … and we would’ve gotten kicked out of school," she explained. "So, we agreed that we would decide every year whether or not to renew [our vows]." That's a pretty unique approach to marriage, don't you think?

After her marriage, Susan explored brief relationships with stars like David Bowie and Sean Penn, followed by director Franco Amurri, with whom she shares a daughter, Eva Amurri, now 36. But her longest-lasting relationship was with her "Bull Durham" costar Tim Robbins, which spanned over 20 years. Together, they have two sons: Jack Robbins, 31, and Miles Robbins, 28. Now, Susan says she's ready to open her heart again, but she's clear about what she wants. "It certainly would take something extraordinary to share my medicine cabinet at this point," she joked.

    Age Is Just a Number

Let's talk about Susan's track record with younger men. She became a grandma again last March when her daughter Eva welcomed her third child, Mateo, but that hasn't slowed her down. Back in 2015, she ended a five-year relationship with writer-director Jonathan Bricklin, who was 43 at the time. The 31-year age gap never bothered Susan. "It's the soul of a person that interests me," she told Hello! magazine in October 2014. "When you are in love, the questions of age, sex, color no longer hold any importance." And when it came to Tim, age wasn't an issue either. However, she did mention on the podcast that "he was very jealous of the boys" once they had their sons. "Part of it was because he didn’t have a close relationship with his mom," she added. "[Our] closeness drove him crazy."
