Alfonso Ribeiro Turns Pandemic Challenges Into Family Adventures

Like many families, Alfonso Ribeiro and his loved ones have spent a lot of time together over the last year and a half due to the global pandemic. But instead of staying cooped up at home, the star of Catch 21 decided to take a bold step. He purchased an RV, and in an exclusive interview with Closer, he revealed it was the "best decision" he ever made for his family. This move allowed them to explore the country while staying safe and together.

At 49 years old, Alfonso shared, "I bought an RV. Even though most of the country was on lockdown, we were able to travel because we were essentially in our home. We avoided hotels and stayed together in our RV, visiting some of the most breathtaking national parks across the nation."

From the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone: The Ribeiro Family's Road Trips

So far, Alfonso and his wife, Angela Unkrich, have taken their brood to some of the most stunning locations in the United States. They've visited the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. "Right now, we're up here in Wyoming, so we're planning to visit Yellowstone," Alfonso excitedly shares. He adds, "Last year, Mt. Rushmore was absolutely amazing. It was an unforgettable experience for all of us."

In speaking with Closer, Alfonso, who is a proud father to Sienna, 18, Alfonso Jr., 7, Anders, 6, and Ava, 2, explains why this RV journey is so meaningful to him and his family. "Our philosophy has always been that we'd rather have our kids see what they read about, rather than just reading about it," he says. It's all about giving their children firsthand experiences that textbooks can't provide.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: A Unique Opportunity

Alfonso and Angela agree that traveling in an RV offers a wonderful opportunity to show their children the beauty of America in ways that go beyond classroom learning. "COVID at home turned into COVID on the road," he reflects, highlighting how this experience allowed their family to adapt and thrive during uncertain times.

Beyond teaching their kids about the geography of the U.S., Alfonso emphasizes that creating new family memories is priceless. "I never imagined I'd do something like this," he admits, noting how his busy Hollywood career usually wouldn't allow for such extended family time. "This has been a game-changer for us."

"The fact that I get to spend more time with my family, especially my kids, has allowed me to become a more hands-on dad," he gushes. "This makes me incredibly proud of what my wife and I are able to accomplish as a family. I realize I'll never get this time back, and I'm grateful to be able to create these amazing memories with my kids. It truly is the best decision my wife ever pushed me to make."
