He’s just doing remarkably well for almost 99 years of age,” she said, beaming with pride. Sure, he’s “a little bit forgetful,” but hey, that’s part of aging gracefully. Nancy also reminded everyone that Bob’s birthday is coming up on December 12, so mark your calendars!
Bob’s Secret to Staying Healthy
Here’s the scoop on how Bob keeps his health in check: he’s all about that vegetarian lifestyle. Nancy credits his daily vegan meal replacement for keeping him “very healthy” over the years. This guy’s not just living; he’s thriving. His diet is a big part of that, and it shows!

Now, let’s talk about Bob’s physical condition. Nancy noted that many people his age tend to be frail, but not Bob. “He isn’t at all, he’s very sturdy,” she said. “His weight is good, he’s strong, and he has this meal replacement in addition to his regular meals because [it’s] just the way he gets everything.”
Staying Mentally Sharp
So, how does Bob keep his mind sharp? Nancy says he’s an “avid reader” and a history enthusiast. “He has a library just filled with walls and walls of books,” she explained. “He’s really interested in history—especially American history—but always interested in history and military things. He likes all of that. He watches television… a lot of what he watches has something to do with animals.”
Bob and Nancy’s Shared Passion for Animals
The couple first crossed paths in March 1983 at an animal adoption event. Their shared love for animals sparked an instant connection, leading to their long-lasting relationship. Together, they founded DonkeyLand, a nearly 2,000-acre rescue, sanctuary, and wildlife preserve dedicated to saving wild burros and their habitats. Nancy says this is a “major living legacy” for Bob, but she also highlights his role in raising awareness about spaying and neutering pets. “He made people think about it,” she said. “That’s probably the most important thing.”
Bob’s Journey Through Health Challenges
Over the years, Bob has faced some health challenges, including a partially blocked left carotid artery, a stroke, prostate surgery, and skin cancer. He’s even had stitches and injuries from falls at home. Despite all this, Nancy says he doesn’t miss working. “He had a long career, and it just became very exhausting to do the show,” she explained. “You know, that just comes as a part of growing older, you just don’t have the stamina.”
Bob’s Legendary Career
Nancy revealed that Price Is Right never needed to edit any episodes because Bob was a total pro. “He just had a clock in his brain,” she recalled. “He would just do that automatically [to] the point of bringing [it] right [to] the second. They didn’t have to edit anything.”
Bob considers the “happiest day” of his life to be the moment he received a call from Ralph Edwards, which led to hosting Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975. Nancy gushed, “That was the beginning, that just opened all the doors from there on. Of course, you know Bob had the talent.” Even his peers agree—he’s the best master of ceremonies out there.

These days, Bob doesn’t watch Price Is Right anymore. Nancy explained, “It’s different. It’s nothing like it was. So, it would be entirely different. He’d rather watch a movie or something now.”
