Netflix's latest hit, The Residence, has fans on the edge of their seats. This White House murder mystery, masterminded by none other than Shonda Rhimes, premiered on March 20, 2025, and has been a fan favorite ever since. The first season wrapped up neatly, but fans can't help but wonder if Cordelia Cupp will be back for another round of mystery-solving in season 2.

Is 'The Residence' Getting a Season 2?

As of now, there hasn't been any official word from Netflix or the creators about a second season of The Residence. However, series creator Paul William Davies seems more than open to the idea, especially if Uzo Aduba and Randall Park are on board to reprise their roles as Cordelia Cupp and FBI Agent Edwin Park. In an interview with Deadline around the show's launch, Paul expressed his enthusiasm for Cordelia's character and his eagerness to continue her story.

Paul shared, "Cordelia Cupp is a character I truly adore. Uzo's portrayal is nothing short of amazing. The dynamic between Cordelia and Edwin is something special. There's so much more to explore with their adventures. While I can't predict the future, I can assure you that I've already brainstormed plenty of ideas for where this story could go."

  • One thing to keep in mind is that if there is a season 2, it might not be set in the White House. Paul hinted that future seasons could take Cordelia and Edwin to new locations, possibly even abroad. This opens up exciting possibilities for the series, allowing fans to see these beloved characters in fresh settings.

Uzo Aduba and Randall Park Are Open to More Seasons of 'The Residence'

It's not just Paul who's excited about the possibility of more seasons. Both Uzo Aduba and Randall Park, who played Cordelia Cupp and Edwin Park, have expressed their interest in continuing the series. During an interview, Randall revealed just how much they enjoyed working on the show.

"We talk about it all the time. The experience of making this show was incredible," Randall said. "Not only did we have a blast filming it, but the chemistry between our characters is so much fun to explore. Plus, with Paul's unique writing style, the opportunity to travel the world and solve more mysteries would be absolutely thrilling."

Uzo echoed Randall's sentiments, stating, "Playing Cordelia Cupp was an absolute joy. I truly believe that her adventures and the cases she solves will never end." She went on to say, "There's always a mystery to uncover in this world. Cordelia has found a remarkable partner in Edwin Park, and I sincerely hope they continue their journey of solving mysteries, exploring new places, and bringing justice to the forefront."

How Did 'The Residence' Season 1 End?

Season 1 of The Residence took viewers on a thrilling ride as Cordelia Cupp investigated the murder of Chief Usher A.B. Wynter, portrayed by the talented Giancarlo Esposito. The crime occurred during a state dinner with Australian diplomats, and Cordelia was determined to uncover the truth. Her methods were unconventional, to say the least, as she interviewed guests, collected evidence, and even indulged in some bird watching on the White House lawn.

Weeks after the murder, when Cordelia had stepped away from the case, public interest remained high. She was called back to solve the mystery once more. After revisiting the White House and piecing together the clues, she gathered the remaining suspects and revealed the killer and their motive.

In a desperate attempt to silence him, she struck him with a clock and staged his death to look like a suicide using a page from his journal.
