Alright, S.W.A.T. fans, let's dive in. We know you've been wondering why your favorite show isn't airing this week. The beloved CBS police drama has been off the air for a little while, and trust me, fans are itching to see Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson and the rest of the 20-Squad back in action. With season 8 being the last, we don’t have much time left with this incredible series. So, let's break it down for you. Here's why S.W.A.T. isn’t on this week, and when you can expect it back on your screens.
What’s Keeping S.W.A.T. Off the Air This Week?
Here’s the scoop: S.W.A.T. is taking a break on March 28, 2025, because CBS is airing the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, better known as March Madness. Basketball fans, you're in luck! But don’t worry, S.W.A.T. fans, it’s only temporary. This isn’t the first time the show has taken a step back for the tournament; there was no new episode on March 21, 2025, either, due to the same reason. These breaks are just a part of the TV scheduling game, but rest assured, the team will be back in action soon.
When Can Fans Expect S.W.A.T. to Return?
Great news, folks! S.W.A.T. is set to return to its usual time slot of 10 p.m. ET on Friday, April 4, 2025. Now, if that doesn’t get your adrenaline pumping, I don’t know what will. The upcoming episode, titled “Hail Mary,” promises to be a real nail-biter. Here’s what CBS has to say about it: “The abduction and brutal torture of two college football stars puts SWAT on the trail of a violent drug dealer looking to exact vengeance for a drug deal gone south, while Deacon’s heroics bring unexpected attention.”

And wait, there's more! The episode features guest appearances by none other than former NBA pro Kenny Smith and former NFL star Jerry Rice. These guest stars are sure to add an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling storyline.

When Can We Expect the S.W.A.T. Series Finale?
As we gear up for the final chapter of S.W.A.T., fans are eagerly anticipating the series finale. The show is scheduled to run until May 16, 2025, when viewers will experience a double dose of action with a two-part series finale starting at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Part one, titled “Ride or Die,” will have Hondo (Shemar Moore) and his team embarking on a dangerous mission involving a familiar face.
According to the synopsis, “When an auto carrier truck gets hijacked by a high-speed crew, Hondo encounters a ghost from his past – a violent car thief thought to be long-dead. As the brutal road warriors tear across L.A. in pursuit of a mysterious $60 million car, Hondo’s old rivalry reignites, and he’s forced to confront a long-held fear. Also, Gamble is thrust into a personal crisis when her brother, Leon, becomes tangled in the investigation, putting Gamble’s SWAT future in jeopardy, in the first part of the two-hour series finale of S.W.A.T.”
In part two, titled “Return to Base,” the stakes are higher than ever. “The SWAT team undertakes its final mission when a violent crew of ex-pat Russian mercenaries holds Los Angeles hostage after planting hundreds of hidden explosives across the city in a bid to extort the release of their brutal leader, Dmitri Rykov. When Rykov is brought to SWAT for safekeeping, SWAT HQ comes under attack, forcing Hondo and 20-Squad to fight for their very survival, in the second part of the two-hour series finale of S.W.A.T.”
While S.W.A.T. is coming to an end on CBS, Shemar Moore hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the show continuing elsewhere. In a March 2025 Instagram video, he said, “The family over at S.W.A.T. — we ain’t done chasing bad guys. Helicopter chases and motorcycle chases and car chases and blowing up stuff … we ain’t done. But if you force us to be finished, we thank you. Again, nothing lasts forever, and we know that. But hey, Netflix, holler at your boy.”
So, there you have it, folks. Whether S.W.A.T. continues elsewhere or not, the current season promises to deliver the action-packed drama fans have come to love. Stay tuned, and don’t miss the thrilling conclusion!
