Where's Bobby? Fans Speculate About The 'Tracker' Character's Absence

What Happened to Bobby on Tracker? Why Character Was Missing | Closer

It didn’t take long for fans of Tracker to notice something was off in season 2. A key character, the brilliant tech guru Bobby, was missing from several episodes. Viewers were left scratching their heads, wondering what happened to the man who was usually at Colter Shaw's side solving cases. So, where exactly is Bobby, and why is he absent from the show?

Why Did Bobby Disappear From 'Tracker'?

In season 2, episode 10 of Tracker, Bobby was conspicuously absent. Instead of Bobby assisting Colter Shaw with tech support, his cousin Randy stepped into the role. Played by Chris Lee, Randy provided an explanation for Bobby’s absence during the episode. “Bobby is dealing with some family stuff, but he wanted to make sure he didn’t leave you hanging,” Randy told Colter. It seems like Bobby had personal matters to attend to, which temporarily pulled him away from his duties on the show.

Colter Shaw, played by Luke Kleintank, recalled working with Randy in the past. “I remember you. You helped me with that case where you hacked into the police server,” Colter said. Randy’s response was lighthearted, saying, “Some of my best work.” He added, “And for the record, I am the one who showed him how to jailbreak his phone so you are all good.”

  • As the two conversed on the phone, Randy was seen casually munching on Bobby’s stash of gummy worms. The playful banter about the candy lightened the mood before Colter asked for Randy’s help with a serious case. A man had killed several people and kidnapped a young girl. Despite being unfamiliar with Bobby’s setup, Randy quickly got to work, proving himself to be just as capable as his cousin.

Over the next few weeks, Bobby was absent from five more episodes. Finally, Colter and Randy revisited the topic of Bobby's whereabouts in season 2, episode 15. Colter inquired if Randy had heard from Bobby during his absence. “No, man, you know how he gets. Doesn’t like to talk about personal stuff,” Randy explained. Colter then revealed that Bobby had attended a close friend’s funeral during his time off. “I know that’s hitting him hard. They were like brothers, man,” Randy said sympathetically. Colter mentioned that he had texted Bobby, but the tech expert hadn't replied immediately. He understood that Bobby needed time to process his grief. “He’ll get back to it. And if he doesn’t, I’ll make sure he does. No way out but through,” Randy assured Colter.

What Fans Are Saying About Bobby's Absence

After the first episode featuring Randy aired, fans took to social media to voice their thoughts on Bobby’s absence. One user on X wrote, “Where’s Bobby? #trackercbs I didn’t catch that! #tracker.” Another chimed in, “I think they said he’s dealing with some family business. I hope he’s gonna be back.” Another viewer asked, “Is Bobby still in the show? Reenie is also MIA.” The concern escalated as one fan exclaimed, “Whoa, where tf is Bobby, this better be temporary, omg???? #TrackerCBS.”

Even as the show progressed, with Randy stepping in for Bobby in episodes like "Shades of Gray," fans were still talking about the missing tech guru. In that episode, Randy made himself comfortable at Bobby’s workstation, noting the chaos of cords scattered around. “I’m looking for a missing guy. Might have been seeing a married woman,” Colter told Randy, to which he humorously replied, “Take it from me, bad move, done that.”

Will Bobby Return to 'Tracker'? What We Know

According to several reports, Bobby is expected to return to Tracker. Chris Lee, who plays Randy, was brought on for a “substantial recurring role,” per Deadline. This suggests that Randy might appear multiple times throughout the rest of season 2. However, there’s no official word yet on whether or when Bobby will reclaim his role on the team. Fans will have to keep watching to find out.

Tracker has been greenlit for a third season, but CBS hasn't released any casting updates yet. The show airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+.
