Hey there, friends. Jenna Bush Hager's husband, Henry Hager, took the spotlight this past Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, when he stepped in as guest co-host on Today with Jenna and Friends. The couple delighted the audience with heartwarming and hilarious family tales. One particularly funny moment came during Friday’s episode when Jenna and Henry recounted a time their 5-year-old son, Hal, burst into tears after catching them sharing a kiss.
Now, picture this: Jenna, 43, explained that their youngest son is currently in that adorable yet awkward phase where he’s feeling a little territorial about his mom’s affection. “We’re going through this phase, and I’m curious if any of you can relate,” she shared with the audience, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “Our youngest son is starting to feel a bit jealous of our romance.” Turning to her husband, she added, “Do you want to share what happened?”
Henry, 46, picked up the story with a chuckle. “Recently, we were all gathered in the kitchen. Everyone was happy and enjoying their food,” he began. “Then, I walked over to Jenna and gave her a little kiss—a sweet, innocent peck. Nothing too dramatic.”

Before he could finish, Jenna jumped in to clarify, “It wasn’t a French kiss, folks.” Henry nodded, then continued, “But Hal? He just lost it. He started wailing uncontrollably. One second, he was all smiles, happily munching away. The next? Complete meltdown.”
“It was like Hal thought we were dating, and I swooped in and stole him from his dream girl,” Jenna joked, drawing laughter from the crowd. “And Henry, being the quick thinker that he is, leaned down and told Hal, ‘Just so you know, the reason you’re here is because your mom and I really like each other.’”

Family Fun and Friendly Banter
Henry couldn’t resist teasing Hal a bit more. “I decided to swoop in for another kiss, just to let him know there are boundaries in this house,” he said with a grin. “He may not move in on my wife anytime soon.”
Of course, Hal isn’t the only one in the family. Jenna and Henry also have two daughters, Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, who bring their own unique charm and humor to the mix.
Fans Love the Realness
When the official Jenna and Friends Instagram account shared a snippet of this heartwarming exchange, fans couldn’t get enough. “Oh yes! Every single one of my boys has gone through that phase,” one fan commented. “We’re currently dealing with it with one of them. And then suddenly, they decide their mom isn’t who they’re going to marry, and they move on.”
Other fans chimed in, praising Jenna and Henry’s genuine connection. “Henry is so down-to-earth! He’s not looking for attention, which is so rare these days. He did an amazing job hosting alongside Jenna. It was such a refreshing two days,” wrote another viewer.

“Henry should co-host occasionally when Jenna needs a partner!” a second fan gushed, clearly smitten by the couple’s dynamic.
A Family Affair
Jenna has been bringing her family into the spotlight ever since tying the knot with Henry in 2008. For his first day as co-host, she even rallied their kids to create a sweet “good luck” video.
“I bet you’re gonna do the best,” Hal said confidently to his dad, while Mila chimed in with, “Dad, good luck and remember what you practiced in the car—it was really good! You’ve got this, Dad!”
But don’t think Mila gets away with everything. Jenna playfully revoked her daughter’s Today show privileges after Mila spilled the beans about her mom’s comical home life. “Yeah, one time she was laughing so hard in our living room that she peed her pants!” Mila confessed to Jenna’s former co-host Hoda Kotb in December 2022. “And guess what? You changed your pajamas!”
