Kevin Edlin, a Nashville-based music producer, is no stranger to hitting the road for work. Whether he’s collaborating with singers or bands, his life revolves around creating music. But when he appeared on Home Town, his focus shifted to restoring his father’s Mississippi cabin, a place built back in 1980 by a family friend. With a budget of $100,000, Kevin was determined to breathe new life into this cherished piece of family history.
Kevin shared his deep emotional connection to the cabin during the episode: “I know this place is in really rough shape, but the memories I have inside of it, and just how much my dad loved it, make me want to save it.” It was clear from the start that this renovation wasn’t just about updating a house—it was about preserving a legacy.

When Erin first inspected the cabin, she admitted it might have been “too far gone.” The walls and roof were decaying, and the one-bedroom, one-bathroom home was completely covered in wood from floor to ceiling. Not only that, but there weren’t any working lights. But Erin and Ben weren’t ones to back down from a challenge—they were ready to put in the work.
The Napiers transformed the 1,000-square-foot property into a safe and inviting space. They replaced all the rotted wood, installed vaulted ceilings, and worked with Mike Husers to preserve the original wood countertops, which held sentimental value for Kevin. The final result was nothing short of spectacular, with Kevin calling the space “bright and airy.”
Kevin was overwhelmed with joy as he walked through the cabin at the end of the episode: “This is everything I could have ever imagined this could be.” It was clear that the transformation exceeded his expectations.
Where Is Kevin Edlin Now?
After seeing his dad’s cabin completely revitalized, Kevin decided to share the joy by renting it out on Airbnb. He continues to work on music, often posting videos from the cabin where he hosts jam sessions with friends. Kevin couldn’t be happier with the outcome of the home makeover.
Reflecting on the experience in a January 2021 post on the Laurel Mercantile Co. blog, Kevin said, “I like many different types of modern styles, but I always felt a more rural and rustic character would be best for this particular place. I really love lots of dark earth-tone colors and various shades of gray. Erin and the design team took those ideas and made the whole place better than it’s ever been.”
