Ozzy Osbourne Says He Only Has 10 Years At Best Left To Live After Back

Let’s talk about a legend in the rock world—Ozzy Osbourne. The iconic frontman of Black Sabbath has been through a lot lately. Ozzy announced that he’s stepping away from touring due to some serious health challenges. This decision came after a fall at his home in Los Angeles back in 2019 that left him with a pretty nasty spinal injury. Since then, he’s been dealing with the aftermath of that accident, which aggravated an old injury from an ATV crash in 2003. Now, he’s focusing on recovery instead of hitting the road.

Ozzy's Fall and the Road to Recovery

Back in 2019, Ozzy took a tumble at his home while trying to climb into bed in the dark. This wasn’t just any fall—it seriously damaged his spine and made previous injuries worse. After being hospitalized and undergoing surgery, Ozzy has been dealing with the effects ever since. In early 2023, he shared an emotional post on social media explaining why he had to cancel his European and U.K. tour dates. This wasn’t an easy decision for him, but it was necessary for his health.

Ozzy opened up about the situation, saying, "This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans. Four years ago, this month, I had a major accident where I damaged my spine." He went on to explain that despite numerous surgeries, stem cell treatments, and physical therapy, his body is still struggling to recover. He’s trying everything he can to get back on stage, but his health isn’t cooperating.

Ozzy’s determination to get back on stage has been unwavering, but his body isn’t cooperating. He’s undergone multiple surgeries, including a recent fourth operation, and even tried cutting-edge treatments like Cybernics (HAL) therapy. Despite all this, he’s still physically weak, and the thought of disappointing his fans is something that really gets to him. He wants to make sure everyone who bought tickets gets refunded and understands his decision.

Ozzy opened up about the complications from his surgeries in a November 2023 interview with Rolling Stone UK. He said, “It’s really knocked me about. The second surgery went drastically wrong and virtually left me crippled. I thought I’d be up and running after the second and third, but with the last one, they put a rod in my spine. They found a tumor in one of the vertebrae, so they had to dig all that out too. It’s pretty rough, man, and my balance is all f–ked up.”

    Ozzy's Diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease

In the early 2000s, Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, specifically PRKN 2. During a heartfelt conversation with his wife, Sharon Osbourne, on Good Morning America in January 2020, he talked about the challenges he faces daily. Sharon explained, “There’s so many different types of Parkinson’s. It’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination, but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it’s like you have a good day, a good day, and then a really bad day.”

Ozzy admitted that his declining health has made him reflect deeply on the future. He said, “At best I’ve got 10 years left and when you’re older, time picks up speed. Me and Sharon had our 41st wedding anniversary recently, and that’s just unbelievable to me!”

Before canceling his tour in 2023, Ozzy spoke candidly about aging and dealing with various health issues. In a December 2022 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, he confessed, “I can remember when I was 69 and thinking, ‘I wonder when I’ll start to feel old, when I’ll start to feel everything.’ And suddenly, when I turned 70, the floodgates opened. It was one thing after the other. … This is the longest time I’ve been sick in my life.”
