Meghan McCain has never shied away from sharing her raw, unfiltered thoughts, especially since her tumultuous time as a cohost on The View. Recently, she ignited a firestorm of conversation when she referred to her former cohosts as "crazy old people" during an appearance on the "You're Welcome With Michael Malice" podcast, aired on December 27.
In a candid moment, the outspoken commentator reflected on the challenges she faced while working on the show. "I honestly thought signing on with ABC was just a temporary gig. I had no idea that once I signed that contract, I’d be stuck in this never-ending cycle of bullying and criticism," she explained. "It's been years since I left that show, yet it feels like they can't move on. I’m just trying to live my life, and every week, there's something new being said about me. It’s exhausting."

The controversy began when current The View cohost Ana Navarro made remarks about individuals leveraging their last names for influence during a segment. While Ana didn’t directly mention Meghan McCain, the political strategist's words sparked curiosity among her fellow cohosts. At 39 years old, Meghan is the daughter of the late Senator John McCain, a fact that often brings her into the spotlight.

Ana, who is 52, mentioned during the episode that "people sitting at this table have done it," sparking questions from her cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin. Alyssa asked, "Who at this table peddled on their last name?" Ana responded cryptically, "I’m not talking about currently." This left many viewers wondering whom exactly she was referring to.
Meghan McCain's Unfiltered Take on Her Ex-Cohosts
Meghan didn’t hold back during her podcast appearance, expressing her frustration with the ongoing commentary about her from her former cohosts. "I can go months without even thinking about them, and apparently, I’m all they talk about. It’s just so sad," she lamented. "When I signed on to do that show, I didn’t realize I’d be dealing with these crazy old people constantly yelling about me. It’s like they can’t let go."

Previous Public Criticism of The View
This isn’t the first time Meghan McCain has criticized The View. In the years following her departure from the show, she’s been vocal about her dissatisfaction. "I thought working on The View was going to be this amazing opportunity, but it turned out to be one of the most miserable periods of my life," she revealed on her podcast "Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat" in November. "It was like being in a scene from The Devil Wears Prada—everybody wants this job, but once you’re in it, you realize it’s not all it’s cracked up to be."
Meghan left the show in 2021 following a heated disagreement with cohost Joy Behar shortly after returning from maternity leave. She shares her children, Liberty and Clover, with her husband Ben Domenech. In her 2022 memoir, Bad Republican, she wrote candidly about her departure: "I had been unhappy at The View for a long time. My unhappiness was like this giant wave that had been building and building, and finally, it all came crashing down after I returned from maternity leave."
